Sail Delmarva: A Poor Solution to Non-Problem
http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-poor-solution-to-non-problem.html
Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Saturday, August 1, 2015. A Poor Solution to Non-Problem. For most of us with all-chain, simply getting the chain straight between the anchor and the gypsy will keep the anchor coming up straight, perhaps with an occasional un-twist (lower and re-hoist) if we have spun. Some like swivels. But then there are bad solutions:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Circumnavigating the Delmarva- Now Available on Kindle! Click on Image, below, to order. Man Over Board MOB.

Sail Delmarva: Tying-up
http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/2015/08/tying-up.html
Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. As I begin work on a mooring project (related to anchoring- it seems easier to the sailor, maybe, but it's longer term and the boat is unsupervised), I consider what is work teaching. It's easy to point at bad knots- and I will do that- but serious failings are often more subtle. Take these owner's manual drawings for the PDQ 32:. Note: I have BOLDED. Where does the dingy go (the lines are going right through it)? The answer on the PDQ is to ...

Sail Delmarva: More Jacklines
http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/2015/07/more-jacklines.html
Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Saturday, July 18, 2015. Who says they all need to be on the deck? Pulling up (not to the side! On lifelines may be a little hard on them, but it is easier on me. Not a mistake, but a well-reasoned decision. Probably just a catamaran thing. July 19, 2015 at 7:14 PM. Actually, I use them the same way. Lifelines are for balance, not regular heavy support. In an emergency, they can keep you on deck as well. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Man Over Board MOB. New Jers...

Sail Delmarva: Anti-Chafe Gear--D-I-Y Alternatives
http://sail-delmarva.blogspot.com/p/chafe-gear.html
Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Rev Oct 26, 2013. Note: I used to sell this stuff through this site, but the time has come for the information to be open-source. Enjoy. After 4 years, only a little fading. Without protection, the previous line was cut 50% though in one winter storm by a sharp stanchion edge. Proper chafing gear is a yacht saver, but the traditional offerings are flawed:. In use. Often difficult to squeeze into chocks. The stitching. Too stiff...

Sail Delmarva: Wind, Fetch, Height, and Period

Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Wind, Fetch, Height, and Period. August 9, 2015 at 5:13 PM. Im with you, Drew. 40 knots is certainly not impossible to endure, but its very uncomfortable. With reduced sail area, its absolutely manageable, even reasonably safe, but not fun, not comfortable, not relaxing, not even exhilarating. 20 knots or below would be just fine for me too. Sail Delmarva: Diesel and Biocides

Anti-Chafe Gear- D-I-Y Alternatives. Though no the focus of this page and outside my area of expertise, this test report seems responsible and interesting: The Diesel Place. Remember, though, that general purpose additives and biocides serve completely different purposes and neither can replace the other. Because biocide formulations cannot easily be modified after registration as pesticides, there are no products blended to do both. Oil and water phase controls;. Both are infected, the water more so.
