Thursday, November 29, 2012. It's going to give a hot one here today.yeasterday they said it would be a top of 35 (93) expected but today's paper is saying that they are expecting a top of 40 (104). A total fire ban has been declared. I hope no fires are started, and that we don't have a repeat of the fires we had a few years ago. After a couple of years of rain we have a lot of bush growth and conditions are perfect for terrible fires. Sunday, November 25, 2012. How are your Christmas predations going?

Laptop #2 is unwell on its Windows side, so it will be heading up to Tauranga to dear Dad for him to mutter over and also check its Linux operating system too. In the meantime I'm back on my original PC, fully rebuilt, souped up and running on Linux. This had been a massive learning curve which is good for my brain*. Tonight I finally managed to upload and save photos from my camera (woohoo) so am back in full-on blogging mode.

Mickles Pickle: from our Worlds Southern most Capital City. 09 January, 2012. We celebrated the New Year with a lovely dinner on the first. This was the best roast dinner yet that I've cooked. I'm sorry that there are no close-ups only we were too busy eating! The new year started with heavy rain but luckily I got these shots from my Folks' garden a few days earlier. We start with a frangipani (thanks Diane. Now I know how to spell it) in flower. The flower looks waxy but is actually quite delicate.

It makes 6 bagels however it can easily be doubled, tripled etc. Rather than rolling the piece of dough into a snake and joining the ends, like in the recipe, I used my dear Dad's method - form it into a bun shape then poke a hole through the middle with your thumb and index finger.
