Stitch and Pieces

Sunday, 16 August 2015. Sunday Stash #7 - Festival of Quilts 2015 purchases. A trip to the Festival of Quilts always means I return home with Liberty fabric. This year I was more restrained as I already have a large stash of Tana Lawn, but I made some great purchases nonetheless. I also purchased some scraps which are entirely new to me. There are a couple I know like Tatum and Isle of Wight, but there are three others I don't know at all and I haven't discovered their names yet. Wednesday, 12 August 2015.

Stitch and Pieces: June 2015

http://www.stitchandpieces.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 30 June 2015. Rainbow Scrappy Quilt: A finished quilt. If you listen to the Chris Evans Breakfast show on BBC radio 2 you may have heard him invite people to share their Smug Zone stories. I am definitely in the Smug Zone with this quilt because I am so pleased with how it has worked out. This is definitely a quilt I am holding on to. The backing fabric I've chosen is by Lewis and Irene and is called Without the Rain we wouldn't have Rainbows. Finished dimensions: 41.5" x 62.5". Rainbow Scrappy ...

Stitch and Pieces: October 2014

http://www.stitchandpieces.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Friday, 31 October 2014. In my last post I mentioned entering the Blogger's Quilt Festival with a new quilt. I put myself under a lot of pressure to start a new scrappy quilt and have it finished for today, only to realise by about Wednesday that it does not have to be a new or previously unseen quilt! Once I made this realisation it was clear what my entry would be and that I would ease off the new scrappy quilt (which was unlikely to get finished in any case.). A massive thanks to Amy at Amy's Creative...

Stitch and Pieces: Sunday Stash #6 - Festival of Quilts 2015 purchases

http://www.stitchandpieces.blogspot.com/2015/08/sunday-stash-6-festival-of-quilts-2015.html

Sunday, 9 August 2015. Sunday Stash #6 - Festival of Quilts 2015 purchases. I bought lots of fabric. The "Sew my Stash" project really went out of the window. Oh well! Here we go with some (admittedly, not all) of my purchases:. This year I decided to buy lots of "stash builders". These Honeycomb Dot Reversed by Riley Blake were a must-have! Following my Snowball and Squares quilt I am now drawn to low volume fabrics because I think they are more interesting than plain white. I added lots of low volu...

Stitch and Pieces: July 2015

http://www.stitchandpieces.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Friday, 31 July 2015. Scrappy Snowballs and Squares: A quilt in progress 2. The piecing of my current quilt is finished! The low volume snowballs are a revelation. Initially I had thought these would just be plain white but I am glad I mixed it up because it makes the quilt more interesting and a lot less predictable. The quilt is made from 1388 2½" squares. I must be crazy! Have a lovely weekend! Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Scrappy Snowballs and Squares: A quilt in progress 1. The snowball blocks are not y...

Stitch and Pieces: Poppy's Rainbow Quilt: A finished quilt

http://www.stitchandpieces.blogspot.com/2015/08/poppys-rainbow-quilt-finished-quilt.html

Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Poppy's Rainbow Quilt: A finished quilt. This quilt feels like an achievement. I imagined it on Sunday evening and by Tuesday evening it was finished, and everything (fabrics, wadding, backing, binding) came from my stash. I didn't have to purchase anything extra. Somehow (rather insanely) this makes me think that this quilt was free to make. Who am I kidding? Finished dimensions: 41" x 52". Number of 2½" squares: 140. Number of 4" strips: 7. Thank you for visiting! I love your...

Crafty Kiwi: February 2014

http://kiwijo-crafty.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, 9 February 2014. Trying to look for the postive. The last few weeks have been a bit rough and I havent really felt like blogging. I got caught in the negative thinking spiral and ended up doing what my dear old Dad called 'navel gazing', ie; feeling sorry for myself. Ive not been doing any crafting, boxfit has now been cancelled and its been too cold and wet to get out walking. Ive been a bit fed up, sick of being skint and generally wanting to hibernate. OK, the good things. The new job is perma...

Sunday, 11 August 2013. A Little About Me. Its been a quiet week this week, things are ticking along quite nicely, so as I dont have much to update you on, I thought Id copy the 'about me' list from the lovely Suki over at the owl club. And give you an insight as to whats going on in my little world. Making – working on my napkin for The napkin project. Cooking – Roast Pork with all the trimmings for our Sunday tea. Drinking – Pukka Licorice and Cinnamon Tea (my new fave). Loving – my OH :o). Hoping &#82...

Sunday, 12 May 2013. Er, wheres our nice weather gone? I cant believe how much the weather has changed over a week! Last weekend I got three loads of washing dry outside, this weekend I havent been able to hang any out. Is that it for our Spring/Summer then? I shant be very happy if it is! Having said that the local streets are full of cherry blossom and that never fails to brighten my day a little. Tho on the whole we are still living way below any kind of comfort zone. But what can ya do! My potatoes i...

Crafty Kiwi: What Makes You Happy?

http://kiwijo-crafty.blogspot.com/2013/09/what-makes-you-happy.html

Sunday, 15 September 2013. What Makes You Happy? After a rather turbulent week, a lot of soul searching (or navel gazing as my Dad used to call it) and a 'gut spilling' session with a lovely friend (Thank You - you know who you are), Ive realised I need to do something that truely makes me happy and that Ive not done for years. Ive lost a bit of weight recently (26lb and counting) and my self confidence is slowly emerging, though other parts of my life arent going so well, so I need to do this just for me.

Crafty Kiwi: Is there Anybody There??????

http://kiwijo-crafty.blogspot.com/2013/12/is-there-anybody-there.html

Sunday, 29 December 2013. Is there Anybody There? Well, I havent been inspired to blog for a while, I just feel like my lifes not the most exciting, and I havent really got a central theme like most blogs have. So I guess this is more like an open letter to my friends and rellies overseas ( I know at least one person reads it! If I pick up a follower or two along the way, then cool, but Im not gonna get lots of traffic and Im OK with that. So, whats been happening since we were last here. Now that the ro...

Crafty Kiwi: October 2013

http://kiwijo-crafty.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, 20 October 2013. Here we are almost at the end of October and weve bitten the bullet and put the heating on (at last). Weve got all the windows in and Phil has finished off the sills and sides, just needs to get the plastering done now. Here are a few pics. Bathroom and back bedroom/office. Back - struggling to get the old bathroom window out. I had a request from a friend who I used to work with to post more about our surrogate cat. She's the most vocal cat I've ever known and we love her to bits.

This morning I was contemplating putting my washing out, but then the sun went in (surprise surprise) and I cant believe how much the temperature has dropped! Its been trying to snow all afternnon, so I guess Spring is still some way off! There have been a few financial hiccups tho, the DWP still havent released my final JSA payment (its only been 3 weeks! Daffodils in the front garden. Snowdrops (and tulips) in the front garden (ignore the weeds).
