April 1930's

Sewing Artistic and Practical. Monday, February 13, 2012. Last year my daughter and I worked together in making these little Valentine's cards for her class*. We are homeschooling now but the idea still lingers as we think of family and friends for this year. The end product was a melding of two patterns. One was from Sew! Sweetpea and I visited her old class a couple of months ago and several of the kids came running up to her, gave her lots of hugs and said, "I still have your Valentine! The cards were...

April 1930's: Paper Doll Matchy

http://stitcheryfriend.blogspot.com/2008/09/paper-doll-matchy.html

Sewing Artistic and Practical. Saturday, September 20, 2008. Paper dolls are so much fun. I like it that SweetPea thinks so, too. She begs me to cut out the paper dolls when the Oliver S patterns arrive. Before I received the all-in-one paper doll cut-out sheet with all of them on one page, she would have to wait until I actually made the outfit. Before she could play with them, though - I made her go outside and model the newest, latest outfit I had made for her. The Sunday Brunch Jacket and Skirt.

April 1930's: Seam Finishes - Bound Seams

http://stitcheryfriend.blogspot.com/2010/09/seam-finishes-bound-seams.html

Sewing Artistic and Practical. Monday, September 20, 2010. Seam Finishes - Bound Seams. Press the bias raw edge towards the seam allowance raw edge, leaving a little gap between them. Are helpful and efficient, but a good steam iron is the necessary tool! I personally prefer to make my own because I can customize it to my project, but some of the old-fashioned vintage unused packages can be quite fun to put to use, too! The focus of this tutorial will be set around making your own bias. Fold and press th...

April 1930's: Merry Christmas Trinket Boxes

http://stitcheryfriend.blogspot.com/2011/11/merry-christmas-trinket-boxes.html

Sewing Artistic and Practical. Wednesday, November 09, 2011. Merry Christmas Trinket Boxes. Several years ago I was meandering through an antique store near Seattle, Washington. It was at Two French Hens. In Burien if you desire to have a peek there sometime - they have the sweetest offerings! With Christmas around the corner, I wanted everyone to have these to use in plenty of time for Holiday gatherings and gift-giving exchanges. I am calling them the Merry Christmas Trinket Boxes. April 1930's: Flat Felled Seams - Tutorial

http://stitcheryfriend.blogspot.com/2011/01/flat-felled-seams-tutorial.html

Sewing Artistic and Practical. Friday, January 28, 2011. Flat Felled Seams - Tutorial. This tutorial was featured on the Oliver S blog. A flat-felled seam is accomplished by sewing two lines of stitching at the seam while simultaneously enclosing the raw edges of the fabric. This seam finish not only prevents unraveling or fraying, but makes the seam very strong. It also gives the finished garment a clean finish on this inside. A flat-felled seam is commonly found on denim jeans and men's dress shirts.

Thursday, January 1, 2015. Okay, so I've missed the Christmas episode,. And too late for the New Years Eve one as well! It's been a while. So I will start by wishing you all. Happy, creative, adventurous. I think it's going to be a. Particularly good one for all of us :). Not into making resolutions,. But like many I tend to reflect. On the year gone by. And a little of the not so good. But then I move on. To think about the year ahead. The possibilities are endless,. And there is always, always choice.
