My attempts at urban homesteading. Red Freckles-Designs by Romi. I find myself spending less time sewing than I used to and more time knitting. It’s funny. My patience for knitting was non-existant when I learned as a child. I would get angry and throw my knitting needles down in frustration, declaring that I would never knit again! Sure Did I just frog 3 nights worth of work? This entry was posted in Uncategorized. November 14, 2016. It’s all ready to be removed from the stems and packed up into m...
Oregano oregano oregano! | Seed Sowing Mama

My attempts at urban homesteading. Last week one of my beds was being overtaken by oregano. I love the stuff, but I don’t want to sacrifice half a bed’s worth of precious growing space for it. I had to harvest about half of it to make room for beets. Check out that huge bowl of oregano. It weighed in at almost a POUND. ONE POUND of oregano. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. My attempts at urban homesteading. Returning home after vacation. We were lucky enough to spend the last week in Maui. Beautiful beautiful Maui. Even though vacation has taken on a new meaning since our kiddos were born, it was such a treat to get away from our usual responsibilities and enjoy some family time in a gorgeous place. We went on a glass bottom boat tour. The little man really loved seeing the scuba divers come to the glass with star fish, sea urchins and coral for us to get a closer look.

My attempts at urban homesteading. What I’m planting- Week of June 1-7. So on Wednesday, the stars aligned. Little man was at preschool and baby girl FINALLY took a good morning nap. This has been a rarity since returning from our vacation. I got a good chunk of time to work in the garden. Here are the seeds I planted:. I’ve never grown Cocozelle squash but have bought them at the farmer’s market and really love the nuttiness of this zucchini. I hope it does well! I also planted 2 kabocha squash plants a...

My attempts at urban homesteading. Garden Fresh Lentil Soup. I wrote about how excited I was to find fresh veg to harvest after our vacation. To recap, I harvested a zucchini, one pound of purple potatoes, some celery, 4 carrots, and even pulled up an onion (not very big yet, but it was starting to bulge out! We had ours with a strawberry, boysenberry and kale smoothie. I wonder what will be ready to harvest next! This entry was posted in Food. May 30, 2014. Returning home after vacation. Basic food preservation- drying herbs | Seed Sowing Mama
https://seedsowingmama.wordpress.com/2014/05/13/basic-food-preservation-drying-herbs
My attempts at urban homesteading. Basic food preservation- drying herbs. The process for these herbs is extremely simple. Just cut what you want to dry, tie the stems together at the bottom and hang them upside down for a week or two until they’re completely dry and brittle. Then remove the leaves from the stem and store in a clean, dry jar. What could be easier? This entry was posted in Uncategorized. May 13, 2014. Notes from Stitches By April
Saturday, November 9, 2013. My boys are doing a writing curriculum this year that has had me thinking more about adjectives and adverbs than I ever have before. Below are a few ideas that to show some cute, fall color combinations. Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Here are a few of my favorites:. Monogrammed Chevron Infinity Scarves. In which gave a ...

Celebrating Quilting and Quilters. Thursday, March 07, 2013. Links to this post. Monday, August 23, 2010. Former Student, Forever Friend. Janice sent pictures of her rendition of Williamsburg Sampler, a quilt I designed in the late 1990's. Her colors are different from mine, and I think it looks great in the guest room!
