A Short History of St. James’ Church. The present church dates from 1855 when it was largely rebuilt following damage by fire. Thomas Henry Wyatt, architect of the Salisbury diocese, who designed and restored churches on the Wiltshire border, e.g. Acton Turville 1853 and Shipton Moyne 1865, was responsible for the rebuilding which included the addition of the South porch and Vestry.
