The closed season saw a good deal of action off the water. Ariel has been stripped off and is awaiting epoxy treatment at Freshwater Boatyard, Cheerio has moved back to St Mawes and is being refurbished by Mark Humphrey and Choochky has been sold to Ian Lamond who has traded up to a Frankie Peters boat from his previous Ponsharden boat. The poor weather has put dent in early season activities but hopefully the season will kick off soon as we anticipate the 90. Anniversary celebrations on 13.

The St. Mawes One Design evolved as a result of a Dr James defeating a young Frank Peters in friendly races held off St. Mawes in the early 1920s. The class races regularly from the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club, Falmouth and the classes spiritual home at St Mawes. These days the majority of the racing boats sail out of Falmouth and Flushing on the western side of Carrick Roads, whilst a few remain in the home port of St Mawes. The class has just celebrated its 85. Anniversary and the prototype OD 1,.
