Poultry

http://www.stonefieldsheep.com/poultry.html

Stonefield sells started pullets as requested or as available on site. These are usually dual-purpose, hardy, proficient laying breeds. The pullets available for sale may be Delaware, Welsummer, Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red, Wyandottes or Marans, for instance. We do have Hobson’s Choice of various pullets, hens and roosters remaindered from our breeding project. Our winter temperatures can drop to -20 degrees F. so we choose breeds that can withstand frigid weather with unheated housing.

Farm

http://www.stonefieldsheep.com/about-the-farm.html

Naturally raised lamb and resilient sheep from the Highlands of Northern New Mexico. After purchasing 48 acres 16 miles north of Las Vegas NM in 1999 we built a barn and started raising sheep in 2001. Since then we have installed a stock watering system, numerous fenced pastures, sheep shelters, a chicken palace and a goose shelter. The farm has a colony of barn cats for rodent control and 4 great Pyrenees dogs to protect the flock from wild predators and neighbors dogs.

3

Breeding Stock

http://www.stonefieldsheep.com/breeding-stock.html

Our ram pool includes two or three Navajo-Churros and two or three meat sires such as Polypay, Dorset, or Southdown. Naturally raised lamb and resilient sheep from the Highlands of Northern New Mexico.

4

Wool

http://www.stonefieldsheep.com/wool.html

Stonefield sheep are sheared 1-2 times per year. Most of the white wool goes to wool auction. Some colored wool is spun into yarn at the Tapetas de Lana wool mill in Mora, New Mexico. We offer a light tan, medium brown and dark brown single ply 750 ypp blend of 60% Navajo-Churro, 20% alpaca and 20% Dorset. The yarn is suitable for weaving, knitting, crochet or crafts. Pat Melendrez and the 4-minute sheep shear. Naturally raised lamb and resilient sheep from the Highlands of Northern New Mexico.
