Randonnee Ski up South Sister Mtn. June 29, 2011. Some years the snow in the Cascade Mountains is flabber-gasting. To take advantage of an exceptional case of this, and to burn off some flubber, Eugen and I put some skins on the bottom of a set of Randonnee skis and went to the top of South Sister on June 17th. South Sister via Prouty Glacier. July 14, 2011. July 9th was sunny, finally, summer in Bend, Oregon. Couldn’t ask for a better day to go play in the snow just west of town! Eugen and I decided to head up to the top of South Sister on a less common route, going up the Green Lakes trail and then around to the north face of South Sister to the summit via the Prouty Glacier.
