Our most recent stop was Lee Vining Elementary and Middle School in the Eastern Sierra Unified School District. Founders Morgan and Sergio Gonzalez donated bags of shoes to the young runners in Lee Vining, California. Keep an eye on more shoe donations throughout the state. April 21, 2014. Meb wins Boston Marathon! California Runners' Ambassador Meb Keflezighi became the first American in over 30 years to win the prestigious Boston Marathon. Meb took the early lead in the race, ran most of the marathon alone, and held off a late charge from Wilson Chebet of Kenya to win by 11 seconds in 2:08:37. We couldn’t be more proud of Meb. He’s a true legend in the running community, a role model for the youth of our sport, and a great ambassador for California Runners.
