By Me, Myself and Id

By Me, Myself and Id. My thoughts. My life. My journeys. My delusions. I'm back in Bintulu. I'm tired. I drove for 9 hours non-stop from Kuching. I only stopped to refuel the car. I didn't even have lunch. It was a long drive. My heart felt heavier as the distance from Kuching increased and to Bintulu closed. I wondered why I'm doing what I'm doing. It was easier when I started 2 years ago. I wasn't a husband, not yet a father. Just another guy chasing his dream. There's going to be a pseudo-graduation c...

By Me, Myself and Id: In a few more months

http://www.storiesandstuff.blogspot.com/2009/02/in-few-more-months.html

By Me, Myself and Id. My thoughts. My life. My journeys. My delusions. In a few more months. Just done the last 2 papers yesterday. Still need to retake 4 papers in March. After that, no more ground school. The only thing then that stands between me and my leaving this place would be the flying. I'm neutral about the whole thing as I'm now a short timer and the situation has no direct bearing on me. I've got better things to do such as getting prepared for March. So, now we have to practice stamping our ...

By Me, Myself and Id. My thoughts. My life. My journeys. My delusions. In one fell swoop. I shall now endeavour to post as to what I've been up to. I would've posted sooner but the blasted Streamyx just won't hold together long enough. Modern technology,eh? Saw Rock, a Malaysian movie about the local rock scene in the 80's. Better than expected, coming from the same folks who produced the lamentable Senario offerings. It wasn't perfect but it showed that mainstream producers can sometimes tear th...The b...

By Me, Myself and Id: Ways to go

http://www.storiesandstuff.blogspot.com/2009/04/ways-to-go.html

By Me, Myself and Id. My thoughts. My life. My journeys. My delusions. There's going to be a pseudo-graduation ceremony. This Tuesday. "Pseudo" because we're not even halfway finished. The good thing is that at least we have our PPL. It's more of a "dog and pony" show. Most of us know it's not for our benefit. It's basically a "control device" (as stated by one of the staff) to keep sponsors happy and the school in the news. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me on Twitter.

The Randomness of Me: Judging a book by its cover

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2010/01/judging-book-by-its-cover.html

Judging a book by its cover. When Times at Parkson shut down, I still kept my membership because I knew I would go to KL often enough to make it worth it. However, I was a wee bit miffed when the birthday card came from them after I got back from KL and it was valid only within the month of my birthday. Anyway, my Wicked collection is now complete and I am happy. Until next pay day when I shall go on another book hunt. I really would rather spend my money on books than other useless things. The Randomness of Me: February 2011

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Different, arent we all? When I create anything, be it a wallpaper or a drawing, I always make sure there are borders. Everything is in its place and there is a place for everything. I also plan where I place a picture. In other words, I can be very structured when I'm working. Our other sister just does what she wants to do. It seldom makes sense to us and a lot of times, she grabs her best ideas from us anyway. But that is not my point. Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.7. To err is human. For now, rem...

The Randomness of Me: To err is human

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2011/02/to-err-is-human.html

To err is human. I have seen many kinds of people. Some I interacted with, even liked, while some I just knew from a distance. I have seen them make mistakes and I have seen some of them learn from their mistakes. The humbler ones even admitted to committing those mistakes and were big enough to apologise for them. The not-so-humble ones either never admitted upon knowing or just went their merry way feeling holier-than-thou. But that is another story for another day. 9:48 pm Category: this and that.

The Randomness of Me: July 2010

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Tears of a child. I think children seldom consider how their actions and words can affect their parents. Unless you have parents like mine who will either smack you for a bad word or action or give you the dressing down of your life. Having said that, I also think the reverse also happens. Parents sometimes don't seem to consider how their actions and words can affect their children. I just despair that many parents don't realise how their selfishness and overprotectiveness and greed could seriously dama...

The Randomness of Me: July 2009

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

It doesn't help that I have a baby who doesn't seem to believe in first words. She's tumbling headlong into first sentences and phrases. Her current favourite is 'I go.' Can you tell she loves going out? My reply was simple. "If you don't get her to like reading at an early age, when are you expecting to start? As far as I am concerned, she can be whatever she wants to be, wherever she wants to be. However, right now, people find it hard to believe she's talking, crawling at super speed, walking whil...

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Want To. Blog. So little time, so many thoughts to share. I think I'll share next week. When I have holidays and I cannot eat so I have more, more time to do many, many other things. Like blog. And buy books. And organise my music files. And play The Sims 3! 8:00 pm Category: this and that. My current favourite quote. More than anything else, I believe it's our decisions, not the conditions of our lives, that determine our destiny – Anthony Robbins. When words aren't enough. Want To. Blog.

The Randomness of Me: To move or not to move

http://velvetraven.blogspot.com/2009/10/to-move-or-not-to-move.html

To move or not to move. I've been considering moving to my LiveJournal. I really do like how the LiveJournal is set up. Okay, I'm being a girl when I say that I really like how I can make my blog look pretty at the drop of a pin (or in this case, with a quick CSS tweak). And I can lock it up when I want to while leaving it wide open if I choose to. But(yes, always a 'but'). To get the full feeling of LJ, I might need to pay for it. Ok, fine! To make it prettier, I'll have to pay for it! The Choo-Choo Tra...

Stories and Stones

Scholarship on New England history. Friday, December 30, 2016. By James D. Porter. In her seminal work, Sweat-Houses in the Southern New England Area. Historian Eva L. Butler only hinted at the various construction methods used by the native people to build their sweat-houses. Due to the paucity of information, historians are generally unsure of how ancient sweat-houses were built in New England. Williams stated only a few facts about the construction of a sweat-house, but he never mentioned the material...

I was sure I would have crumbled and I wanted to know why people like Ruby Bridges had not. Why is it only somehow “important” if I relate it to the theories of change proposed by a very small group of largely White and male western thinkers? Storytelling for children

Book in a day. Storytelling takes the listener into a fantasy world. A world where anything can happen to anyone. One of the beauties of a storytelling workshop is that it can take place wherever you like – I regularly visit schools , museums and libraries. I’ve run party workshops and church workshops – most recently I ran a workshop in a woodland clearing! We can even go on and create a full colour book of their stories at a Stories and Storytelling Book in a Day Workshop. Tales from my treasure chest.

I am going to regret this on so many levels tomorrow, but I'm finishing up 3 days worth of writing in a single night. Yawn* The eyes remain vigilant, but the brain protests. I think I'm slowly becoming nocturnal. Just finished off the daily word count. Now to complete tomorrow's goal.only 1,426 words to go! But you just s...
