Battles & Memorials. Your Life Will Not Go Unnoticed. January 30, 2015. 2014 was a great year. I got to travel and celebrate the marriages of close friends. I moved into a new place and I met the neatest people. I got my diploma, started a new job – and yet for most of it I felt like such a mess. I know this because I’ve been in this season before. Because not so long ago I sat on my parents front steps, my car packed tight with everything I owned, and still no word that I even had a place to go. Thank y...

Spring in Huasna Valley. The Stories I Read. Battles & Memorials. Your Life Will Not Go Unnoticed. Your Life Will Not Go Unnoticed. February 2, 2014. To be loved is to be seen. There are scenes that stick with you, scenes that play with perfect clarity in your mind’s eye years later. This one came from a movie of no consequence, in a story that I don’t recall any particular attachment to except for this scene. Susan Sarandon describes her reasons for marr. November 26, 2013. Because we can’t get more of ...

All Great Change – The Stories I Meet

http://www.storiesimeet.com/great-change

January 30, 2015. 2014 was a great year. I got to travel and celebrate the marriages of close friends. I moved into a new place and I met the neatest people. I got my diploma, started a new job – and yet for most of it I felt like such a mess. That season of chaos, whether it lasts a few days or a few months, has a purpose. When you’re stripped down to the essentials, when you’re drained to the point of empty – the next season finally has room to fill you up deeper than before. And I need to be reminded ...

Thank You Dad – The Stories I Meet

June 15, 2014. Thank you for taking the time to fix the inconsequential. Knowing you would make time to fix the plastic Breyer horse with the broken leg created in us a confidence that you could help fix the big things too. Thank you for throwing us across the pool a thousand times. Thank you for starting the biggest splash ball wars Twain Harte Lake has ever seen. Thank you for packing us around on hikes, spending weeks at the lake, and driving a thousand miles to all our activities. Back to that hard w...

The Flag – The Stories I Meet

October 28, 2013. The following comments were made in regard. A Home Décor piece written by A CUP OF JO. 8220;ugh. American flag decor? Spells conservative republican to me”. She paid them the highest compliment you know, to say that the flag of our nation screams conservative republican. Her flippant remark only served to confirm what conservatives already believe about their liberal counterparts, that our nation’s welfare is of no consequence to them. What is so offensive about our flag? If the flag do...

8230;arrive hungry, leave inspired! Posted on June 15, 2014. What is it with chairs, anyway? I remember an overstuffed armchair with upholstery that resembled big fronds of fern, and a large wooden rocking chair my kindergarten teacher brought to class to sit in when she read stories to us. My visits to my town’s public library, where my best friend’s mom was the head librarian, often involved a quick spin in her revolving chair. I love the marks–they’re like a wordless journal to me. 8230;arrive hungry, leave inspired! Be Still and Know. Posted on October 23, 2014. I hear the living room blinds tapping against the window frame, blowing with a breeze that is lifting the branches of the front-yard maple. I hear the gentle. Of a fan inside my widescreen Mac, cooling this tool that allows me to make art and sell it halfway around the world. At my feet lies my sleeping dog, Buddy. I hear him gently snoring, legs twitching in a run-dog-run dream. A stillness so sweet, it’s palpable. 4 thou...

What might be lost to the what ifs and I cants. Grateful for the touch; smile at the warmth. Can we be free.together. Will the have faith. Will we be partners.
