Living the Good Life. Simple, Frugal Living. June 21, 2007. Eggs: A Cheap Source of Protein. Posted by Keesa under Finances and Frugality. Our egg production is down a bit at the moment, because Victoria is setting and it’s summer, so things are a bit slower (even chickens like a bit of a break! But we’re still getting four or five eggs a day, which is quite a lot, for a family of three, if you don’t eat two eggs apiece for breakfast every single day. :-). June 20, 2007. Make Do and Mend. Living the Good Life. Simple, Frugal Living. June 26, 2007. Crossed Breeds: Black and Blond Chicks. Posted by Keesa under Animals. In my previous post, I mentioned that two of our chicks so far were blond and one was black. This is fairly common for us because of the way our coops are set up. At some point, I would like to raise c...

I’m about 40 lbs overweight, and trying to get rid of that extra weight and keep it off is always a challenge. Food–but I still lost weight! Let...

Chickens Won’t Eat Kudzu | Living the Good Life
https://livingthegoodlife.wordpress.com/2007/06/19/chickens-wont-eat-kudzu
Living the Good Life. Simple, Frugal Living. June 19, 2007. Chickens Won’t Eat Kudzu. Posted by Keesa under Animals. I was a bit disappointed last week to discover that chickens won’t eat kudzu. Other animals will (goats, for example, love kudzu), but not chickens, even though they like their greens as well as the next animal. Unfortunately, boiled kudzu doesn’t seem to appeal to chickens. But chickens won’t eat it. One Response to “Chickens Won’t Eat Kudzu”. July 24, 2008 at 10:22 am. You are commenting...

Living the Good Life. Simple, Frugal Living. May 31, 2007. A Promise of Rain. Posted by Keesa under Gardens and Plants. This morning, the sky was low and heavy, and for a few hours, I thought it might hold a promise of rain. Unfortunately, the promise burned off with the noon sun, and we remain stubbornly drought-bound. Than ready for rain. Everything is so dry. There’s a blanket of dust lying over the leaves on the trees by the side of the road. Have the extra watering to do right now. May 30, 2007.
