Thoroughly Good Eurovision: February 2008
http://thoroughlygoodeurovision.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Listening to every Eurovision song ever performed and blogging about it. It's like the Classic FM Hall of Fame, only worse. Friday, 29 February 2008. I look at this video of Carola singing "Invincible" for Sweden in 2006 and think only one thing. Let's throw as much as we possibly can at the lighting budget and pour the rest into the rental of the wind machine assuming, of course, there's something left over from the costume work. Thoroughly Good Eurovision: January 2008
http://thoroughlygoodeurovision.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Listening to every Eurovision song ever performed and blogging about it. It's like the Classic FM Hall of Fame, only worse. Wednesday, 30 January 2008. Interval Feature # 1. Not for the first time over the past five years do I find myself asking the question “Why is the Eurovision so terribly important to me? 8221; It’s a question I unexpectedly found myself asking a week before the 2002 Eurovision in Tallinn, Estonia. It was a moment which left an indelible mark. Predictably, I ended up getting distract...

Eurovision Down Under: April 2009
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 24, 2009. This is EDU Calling. The Editors have ranked the songs and argued differences in opinion over France and Turkey. Our predicted qualifying songs from the semis (below) were ranked alongside the five automatically qualified to produce our Top Ten list. While we love Norway, we love Switzerland just a little bit more - well, a heck of a lot more. The editors were also surprised to strongly agree on Portugal - their best placing ever calls! 1 Switzerland 12 pt. 2 Norway 10 pt. Bosnia ...

Eurovision Down Under: March 2010
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 25, 2010. Ukraine has been fined by the EBU for their mucking around since the deadline for entries passed. The EBU fined NTU over the entry submission delay and also imposed an additional fine for every next day after the deadline with no entry submission. As the old saying goes, bureaucratic fines are the mother of invention. NTU has revealed the official entry to ESC 2010 for Ukraine. Will be: "Sweet People" to be sung by Aloysha. Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Sunday, March 21, 2010. As we ...

Eurovision Down Under: Semi Final 2: Part One
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2012/04/semi-final-2-part-one.html
Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Semi Final 2: Part One. Željko Joksimović "Nije ljubav stvar". Intro sounds like it comes from the Red Cliff soundtrack. Diminishing returns from Zeljko. This song lacks the warmth, structure and beauty of earlier ones. Will the audience reward his persistence (Judy Dench Oscar style) or finally say enough is enough? Kaliopi "Crno i belo". The chorus does have a hook to it, but that comes 2 minutes in. Strange (Qualifies). Joan Franka "You and Me". Kurt Calleja "This Is the Night".

Eurovision Down Under: May 2010
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 31, 2010. Due to one of the Editors being in Oslo this year, some of us completed our usual poll before the Semis. The rest of us voted on the night of the Final. The votes from EDU are:. We got first and third right - and Belgium and Turkey got strong support from several Editors. In a year whn we all agreed we had no idea who was going to do well, we wound up being a bit more accurate than normal. now, to fix our SuperCoach teams! Sunday, May 30, 2010. Thoughts before the Final. Semi Final ...

Eurovision Down Under: Final: Automatic Qualifiers
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2012/04/final-automatic-qualifiers.html
Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Engelbert Humperdinck "Love Will Set You Free". Will the voice stand up to the arena? Englebert will make it do well. Top ten. Best result since Andrew Lloyd Webber. England will send nothing but octogenarians from now on. Anggun "Echo (You and I)". Certainly the worst French entry in recent memory. WTF is with the change of pace at the start. An instant turnoff. And with Indonesia ineligible to vote, this could be a Nul point! Nina Zilli "L'amore è femmina (Out of Love)".

Eurovision Down Under: May 2012
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 28, 2012. Droogi-Poo - EDU Verdict on 2012. The Melbourne jury gathered around the BBC coverage over a few bottles of King Valley's finest merlot and far, too much, delicious French food to pass verdict on what we agreed was the most even contest we'd seen in many years. Much like this year's F1, out of six jury members we each predicted a different winner (and yes, one of us backed Sweden). Vision was being held in Central Asia. And now here are the EDU jury votes:. 10th) ESC result 8th.

Eurovision Down Under: Semi Final 1: Part Two
http://eurovisiondownunder.blogspot.com/2012/04/semi-final-1-part-two.html
Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Semi Final 1: Part Two. If the verses of Bobby Darren’s ‘Dream Lover’ and the chorus of ABBA’s ‘Nina, Pretty Ballerina’ had a baby it would be this song. A bit of fun, sure – but minus almost your points for lack of creativity. (Will not Qualify). Valentina Monetta "The Social Network Song". Ralph, give it up man! Can’t wait for 2016 entry about Twitter. So bad, it has to be a Eurovision song. Nothing else in the world invites these songs. (Will not Qualify). Carnival mood, swing...
