Making important the little things. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Do you ever feel like your brain is turning to mush? I do with so many automated things that I don't have to think any more. Do you know how to turn your car lights on when the mechanic turned the automatic off? Can you remember your passwords? Well obviously I do when I have a check to deposit. Good thing the manual is in the glove box. I have my passwords written in a little notebook along with the date of when that password was initiat...

straythreads: Artist Statement

http://www.straythreads-straythreads.blogspot.com/p/bio.html

Making important the little things. To me art is one of the great resources of my life. I feel that it enriches the spiritual life and makes one more sane and sympathetic, more observant and understanding, as well as being good for one's nerves. Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, January 7, 1928. Those are my feelings exactly with the addition of and quilting. Next to art in the first sentence. Something important might happen. And if it doesn't, then I must. It's not for 4-H. Just enjoy the process. Subscribe to...

Making important the little things. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The All Girl Filling Station Reunion. By Fannie Flagg again, this time for book club. I enjoyed it as much the second time. Make Quilts not War. By Arlene Sachitano the story would be so much shorter if the characters didn't spend so much time making tea and coffee then having a cookie. They have tea or coffee in every chapter. By Dan Brown he never disappoints. By Vicki Myron about a cat that lived at the library. By Mary Beth Keane. The pi...

Quilting Owl: September 2014

http://quiltingowl.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Traditional style quilting in a tropical environment. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. In and out of the studio. I am still having a lot of problems with my left wrist and hand and at times over the last couple of weeks have been trussed up in compression bandages to reduce the swelling. This has given me a lot of time to spend hand quilting on a commissioned quilt for future publication in AP&Q. The thimbles now have a new home and it is wonderful to finally have most of them in one location. We all congrat...

Traditional style quilting in a tropical environment. Friday, August 8, 2014. Well the cast on my arm has been removed but mobility is still very poor with my left hand so it will be a lot more one handed stab stitch quilting for me. To make this task easier I am now the proud owner of new multi function hands free frame. I am looking forward to getting back to some of my other numerous works in progress and hope this will be soon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Quilts In The Barn.

Traditional style quilting in a tropical environment. Monday, December 22, 2014. The crib also sits on a new runner which was a QAYG hand quilted project stitched when my arm was in plaster. http://quiltingowl.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Traditional style quilting in a tropical environment. Monday, March 30, 2015. New and old projects. I have had lots of distractions over the last few months and have been very remiss keeping up with this blog. In between these distractions I have been working on lots of different projects mainly UFOs but not too many finishes as yet. There have been some additions to my pincushion collection, some gifts from dear friends and some I have made myself or purchased at craft fairs. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Stray Thoughts On A Leash

Stray Thoughts On A Leash. Welcome to my very miscellaneous blog. Here, I write about everything from mis-used words to gardening, to bad habits in society to going places and seeing things! Sunday, July 21, 2013. July 21, 2013. Upon getting up this morning, and fetching the creamer for my weekend mocha, nothing was amiss, and I gave it no further thought. All that was about to change, however, at lunchtime. My reputation is shot! A Frenchman, it is said, never spills a drop of wine! Links to this post.

Stray Threads

Thursday, March 30, 2006. I'm going to list below some Chinese proverbs that I've collected over the years. The Chinese certainly have a talent for putting words together that will convey what they want to express. 1 Sincere words are not grand. 2 Never be boastful; someone may come along who knew you as a child. 3 Tigers and deer to not stroll together. 4 Learning is a treasure that follows its owner everywhere. 6 Want a thing long enough, and you don't.
