Stringfarm: The Onondaga Music Company
http://stringfarm.blogspot.com/2009/02/onondaga-music-company.html
All art constantly aspires to the condition of music. Walter Pater. Monday, March 23, 2015. The Onondaga Music Company. On June 6, 1960, the Onondaga Music Company was on West Jefferson Street in Syracuse, New York. I have no idea if it's still there. The motto of the Onondaga Music Company was " IF IT'S MUSIC, WE HAVE IT.". That might well be the motto of the human race. It was possible they had altered long sleeve shirts or maybe they were only available in California. In 1955) record. I had never ...

All art constantly aspires to the condition of music. Walter Pater. Friday, January 31, 2014. Garrett Mason's Firebird Strat. In August of 2007, I was on the hunt for a Fender Thinline Telecaster. I couldn't find one anywhere. So while I was at Buckleys (remember Buckleys? The only thing missing is Garrett's fingernail file that he usually has sticking out of the pickguard near the bridge! Stringfarm: The Old Framus
http://stringfarm.blogspot.com/2013/11/my-first-real-guitar-was-this-framus.html
All art constantly aspires to the condition of music. Walter Pater. Monday, March 23, 2015. My first real guitar was this Framus classical 5/34 “Bocacciao” Sn#28189 61 H made in August, 1961. Framus master of guitar-making Richard Mueller approved the quality of the instrument by signing the label in it before it left the Framus workshop in Bavaria. The Bocaccio models date from the mid-1950s but the design was changed in the 1960s. Framus Boccaciao, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Stringfarm: Gibson J45
http://stringfarm.blogspot.com/2013/11/gibson-j45.html
All art constantly aspires to the condition of music. Walter Pater. Monday, March 23, 2015. I traded an inexpensive Regent acoustic and a very nice "Lincoln" Les Paul copy and a Peavy bass amp for this 1970 Cherry Sunburst Gibson J45 at Sandy's Music in Cambridge, MA in 1995. I took my two funky guitars and amp in thinking I would trade them in on something. The two guys working there looked them over and said sure I could trade them in on something. What was I looking for? Gibson J45, 2015.

The Water Coupe: December 2008
http://thewatercoupe.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Water, culture, and memory. Wednesday, December 24, 2008. On the third night of Hanukkah a photographer gave to me. An awakening to the pleasures of Gin and Tonic. My only experience with Gin was back in art school, when, under the influence of Quadrophenia. Mythology, I tried my hand at Gilbey's. On the rocks. . I swore I could feel brain cells being incinerated with every sip. Tasted like ass, too. Then last night, during the latkes and before the lighting of the candles, my photographer friend Zara.

Water, culture, and memory. Saturday, April 4, 2009. Fishy go swim swim. Well now, today's Press-Democrat has an interesting story about the "battle" between Sonoma County farmers and coho salmon. 160; Low water levels in the Russian River, coupled with spring frosts threatening crops, created a situation where using the remaining river water to spray crops (the traditional method to save them from freezing) ended up killing off salmon fingerlings stranded in the dried out river. The Water Coupe: February 2009
http://thewatercoupe.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Water, culture, and memory. Thursday, February 12, 2009. My birthday is in October. But it's never too early to shop. 160; Just sayin'. Links to this post. Friday, February 6, 2009. Last Thursday night was the opening of the "Weather Report" show. Two paintings in the show really stood out to me (in that sort of "damn! 160;want to do" way), and it turns out they were both done by the same artist, Kathryn St. Clair. And, it turns out she made up some postcards like I did, announcing the group show(s) she...
The Water Coupe: Here and there.
http://thewatercoupe.blogspot.com/2009/02/here-and-there.html
Water, culture, and memory. Friday, February 6, 2009. Last Thursday night was the opening of the "Weather Report" show. And I got a chance to meet three more artists whose work I really like. For a long time I've been pretty reluctant to try and meet other artists, but now that I'm actually producing a bit more work and showing it, connecting with other people has become a bit less intimidating. Amazing what getting off your ass can do. Later, Tony Spiers. And his wife, Lisa. 160;introduced themselves...

Water, culture, and memory. Monday, July 6, 2009. Fishy Go Swim Swim (studio version). 2009), oil on canvas, 24" x 24". The long gap in posts here results in some part from working in my new Graton studio. In April I moved into #28 at Atelier One. This was the space formerly occupied by Adela Akers, who had added sheetrock, track lighting and other details to make it seem as much a gallery as a studio. It is a beautiful, inspiring space, and one that encouraged me to open it up to show my work. Some addi...

Water, culture, and memory. Thursday, July 30, 2009. The Open Studio says thanks. TALISMAN 7 , (2009) oil on canvas, 24" x 24". This past weekend saw many of my friends coming up, over and out to visit the lair and see what I've been doing instead of hanging out with. My thanks to you all for the kind words, support and generosity. I ended up selling a few paintings, a "Happy" print, and had some nibbles on a few other pieces, so it was a good weekend, considering the limited amount of traffic I had.

Another Victim of Stringfellow Farm. Tuesday, March 20, 2007. Mick Mallon and the Inn at Stringfellow Farm. My wife Tara and I got married in June of 2005. We chose the Inn at Stringfellow Farm in Round Hill, because it is truly a beautiful farm in the serene midst of horse country, Virginia. Upon our first visit, Michael "Mick" Mallon introduced himself as the host of the Inn, and walked us through the entire process of wedding preparation. He continues to represent himself this way today.
