The incorporated town of St. Tammany (1792) was the predecessor of the unincorporated post office and railroad station of Bracey. Use of the land at St. Tammany Farm predates recorded history. Artifacts of Native Americans have long been found in freshly plowed fields, especially in areas close to springs feeding into Heweys Creek, which runs east to west through the farm.
