Stuart Howitt: Is there still a need for portrait painting today?
http://stuarthowitt.blogspot.com/2010/05/is-there-still-need-for-portrait.html
Paintings and drawings and generally stuff about fine art and trying to succeed in the art world. Thursday, 20 May 2010. Is there still a need for portrait painting today? I've recently had a discussion with some friends regarding the relevance of modern portrait painting. Some say that there's no real use for it any more. That's my 2 penne’th on the matter; let me know your thoughts by adding your comments below. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sign up for updates. London, United Kingdom.
Stuart Howitt: Good news on the horizon...
http://stuarthowitt.blogspot.com/2010/05/good-news-on-horizon.html
Paintings and drawings and generally stuff about fine art and trying to succeed in the art world. Friday, 14 May 2010. Good news on the horizon. The latest rejection was from the Royal Society of Portrait Painters for their Bulldog Bursary. This is a bursary of £7500 to use however you need to, you also recieve mentoring from an RP member and their's also the possibility of getting studio space at the Art Academy. Unfortunately it wasn't my time for this one either. I did manage to get to the private vie...
Stuart Howitt: Royal Society & BP portrait entries
http://stuarthowitt.blogspot.com/2010/03/royal-society-bp-portrait-entries.html
Paintings and drawings and generally stuff about fine art and trying to succeed in the art world. Thursday, 25 March 2010. Royal Society and BP portrait entries. I have just dropped off a painting for submission into the BP portrait award, I really hope it gets accepted but the competition for this one is very steep. I should find out in about a week so fingers crossed. I'll post some photos of the paintings I've submitted when I get them loaded onto my PC. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Stuart Howitt: 1st blog......ever!
http://stuarthowitt.blogspot.com/2010/03/1st-blogever.html
Paintings and drawings and generally stuff about fine art and trying to succeed in the art world. Thursday, 18 March 2010. This is my first blog ever so I'm going to keep it short and sweet. Over the next couple of days I'll get some pictures up to make the blog a bit more interesting. I've been in a bit of a tech-wrecking bubble over the last week with the sad and total death of my hard drive, resulting in the loss of all of my photos as well as other cherished files! Stuart Howitt: Forthcoming Exhibition
http://stuarthowitt.blogspot.com/2010/05/forthcoming-exhibition.html
Paintings and drawings and generally stuff about fine art and trying to succeed in the art world. Saturday, 29 May 2010. Here's the invite for my forthcoming exhibition. It's a group exhibition featuring some new work which isn't on my website yet so it will be an exclusive chance to see what I've been doing lately. It's been a very busy time trying to get the prints arranged and get new work finished and framed, but I think I'm almost done. Then I have to focus on the Chelsea Art Society submission.
Stuart Howitt: Coping with rejection...
http://stuarthowitt.blogspot.com/2010/04/coping-with-rejection.html
Paintings and drawings and generally stuff about fine art and trying to succeed in the art world. Friday, 23 April 2010. Part of being an artist is being sensitive enough to create art that hopefully touches people yet having a skin which is thick enough to cope with the rejections you will no doubt have to face at some time or another. In a nutshell, it's tough dealing with rejection but don't dwell on it, don't try to second guess why your work didn't get in, in essence it just wasn't your time. Mo...
