Stuff That Makes Us Happy. An online Happy Place. Even better without biscuits…? Every now and then, Marks and Spencer. Produce biscuit tins which are worth buying for themselves (not that there’s anything wrong with their biscuits, of course…). This Custard Cream tin is from a few years ago and was (of course) full of custard creams. (They also did a chocolate bourbon one, but I don’t have a photo of my Bourbon tin. I’ll try to remember to add it later.). Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A rainbow in the sky.

Sarah's Slow Stitches. Slowly creating stuff using pointy things and string. Ending the year on a high note! December 24, 2013 by Sarah. This shawl is something that I am very proud of. It’s probably the most complicated thing I’ve knitted so far (though in reality the pattern was fairly simple, I had to learn a number of new techniques), and it was a present for my mum, so it had to be nice! The yarn was a bamboo/silk mix (Sublime Yarns) and was. It’s not big – it’s just a shoulder shawl, really, ...

Sarah's Slow Stitches. Slowly creating stuff using pointy things and string. Laquo; My first lace… nearly. From fluff to finished item. October 12, 2013 by Sarah. I’ve finally knitted a thing made of my own handspun! The very first spinning I did, which has been sitting in a pretty mini-skein since February, has now become a (short) cowl. The pattern is the Lacy Art Yarn Scarf by Dixie Grilley. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Sarah's Slow Stitches. Slowly creating stuff using pointy things and string. Laquo; Ending the year on a high note! March 14, 2014 by Sarah. Not a kerchief person! So, sadly, it was frogged. And now it turns out that the yarn is no longer in production, and I can’t find any end-of-stock or de-stashed to buy, so I am stuck with my one 115m ball of yarn…). Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Sarah's Slow Stitches. Slowly creating stuff using pointy things and string. Laquo; January round-up. March 11, 2013 by Sarah. Edited to add photos). So, the blanket (known as the Big Damn Blankie, because it’s going to be) is 21 rows old. It’s also quite bright, and a nice mix of yarn weights, ranging from double knitting to chunky. Blankie – 21 rows donw. Then washed and hung to dry. It took two or three days for it to be completely dry, but I’m quite happy with the result. I also bought some dyed Blue...

I started the Knotted Openwork Stole by Cindy Greenslade. Sarah's Slow Stitches. Slowly creating stuff using pointy things and string. Laquo; Finished bag! My first item of proper clothing! April 21, 2013 by Sarah. I mentioned last month. That I’d spun the 20g of undyed BFL fibre – it came to somewhere in the region of 115m (I don’t have a proper measuring tool at the moment, so I think it’s somewhere in the ballpark, but I definitely need to get me a niddy-noddy. I made a shrug! BUT it fits, and it looks as it’s supposed to, and I did seaming (which took all of two minutes). I would certainly knit this pattern again, though I don’t know how many shrugs I need in my life…! The pattern is Retro Rogue by Anik St Louis. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Sarah's Slow Stitches. Slowly creating stuff using pointy things and string. Laquo; From fluff to finished item. Ending the year on a high note! November 5, 2013 by Sarah. A nice simple washcloth, with an eyelet pattern. This knitted up nice and quickly, and I quite liked knitting with cotton – I’ve never done it before. The only downside is that it looks a little bit grubby – it’s a cream-grey gradient. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Eight Norwegians and a Finn. There hasn't been much time for thrifting lately, and I haven't been very active on the blogging front. I hope some of you are still around. I don’t think anyone doubts that human activity has resulted in large amounts of CO2 being released into the atmosphere. A pretty convincing article on this is here. Finally, there is an agreed model of how CO2 could incre...
