What Did You Learn Today?

What Did You Learn Today? Thursday, November 22, 2012. Day 116: So far so good. Pretty well all of us in McGill's MLIS program seem to share a kind of quirky personality trait: extreme unfounded anxiety. The vast majority of us blow every assignment out of proportion and panic about finishing it, panic about whether we've done it right, obsess, obsess, obsess. It's a good idea to have a quick and easy way set up to check your course standing. I have an app called iStudiez Pro. That means that the only wi...

What Did You Learn Today?: Day 114: Flu Shots are a Bad Idea for Me

http://www.stumblingthroughlibraryschool.blogspot.com/2012/11/day-114-flu-shots-are-bad-idea-for-me.html

What Did You Learn Today? Thursday, November 15, 2012. Day 114: Flu Shots are a Bad Idea for Me. The first time you get a flu shot, your body reacts more severely to it than any time afterwards. Some people react to vaccines as though they've gotten sick with the disease being vaccinated against. I am one of those people. I'm on day 3 since my shot, and I'm actually having mild hallucinations. Words are dancing on their pages. It's kind of sickening to watch. Those viruses were dead, body! 6 of 15 (40%).

What Did You Learn Today?: April 2012

http://www.stumblingthroughlibraryschool.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

What Did You Learn Today? Friday, April 13, 2012. Day 100: Officially Half A Librarian! Happy Friday the 13th! And happy Day 100 and End of Year 1 as well! I'm half way there! As a grand summary lesson for my 100th numbered day in Library School, let me share the most overarching lesson I've taken away from this year. You can do anything. Anything at all. You just have to ignore all doubts about whether you can, and just go go go. I did not sleep Wednesday night. A bottle of NOS kept me company while...

What Did You Learn Today? Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Day 58: Home Sweet Search Engine. Given that today was a wrap up day, two last classes, I learned quite a lot! Most interestingly, I learned about some of the more interesting search engines on the web. Is a great way to either avoid using someone's image without proper credit or find out who is using your image without proper credit. Oh man, liveplasma. It's epic, exploratory and amazingly intriguing. I could look things up all day on Liveplasma!

What Did You Learn Today?: Day 46: Next time... I'll be deadly serious. Next time!

http://www.stumblingthroughlibraryschool.blogspot.com/2011/11/day-46-next-time-ill-be-deadly-serious.html

What Did You Learn Today? Monday, November 14, 2011. Day 46: Next time. I'll be deadly serious. Next time! I didn't make it to class today, we weren't even back in town until 6, so at that point, it was really "how quickly can I get home? How long can I sleep? I mean, what an amazing, whirlwind weekend! Honestly, I hardly feel like we were in NYC at all. I mean, it's New York City! Big, epic, distinctive! But that's besides the point. The real story is the Cup! My monopod/walking stick even added an extr...

Stumbling Through History | A historian's quest to understand and share the past.

A historian's quest to understand and share the past. Ode to a pair of old friends. July 9, 2014. Last week, I had to go and purchase a new pair of hiking boots. For most folks, even for me, the purchase of new shoes is a routine thing. But as I was driving home, I began to think about all of the places the old pair had taken me, how many trips we had taken together. So, please pardon me while I reminiscence for a moment…. June 19, 2014. That is awesome news. Of course, if our museums are so importan...
