Wade Sturgeon in his gardens - circa 1950. Wade Sturgeon created a beautiful Woodland Garden area at Sturgeon's Mill consisting of a wide variety of plants, including some native species as well as water plants. Tending to the gardens was a relaxing hobby for Wade, and his family and friends enjoyed the miriad of colors and aromas during springtime and throughout the year. Atlas Steam Engine powers Sturgeon's Mill. Here is a little information on how the mill is powered. The bore of the engine is 11 3/8" and has a stroke of 16". The fly ball governor lets the engine run to about 200 rpm. With the 135 lbs of steam from the boiler the engine will produce approx. 30 hp. The 72" drive pulley pulls a belt over a 24" pulley at the head rig which turns the saw blade at 600 rpm. There are three other engines being put to work in the mill. Sunday, September 25, 2011. Tahoe with Dave and Stevie. Dave and Stevie were going to be in Tahoe for a week so we just had to visit. It was a short trip, but wonderful. I have such wonderful friends. How cute is this picture. Oh look a canoe! Dave told Darrick it had a sign that said "You can use canoe just bring it back". So they did. Darrick later found out there was no such sign. They stole a canoe. Only for a little while, but they took it back. King of the Lake. What are you guys looking at?
