I have hardly ventured any further than Chennai into Tamil Nadu, except for a few occasional visits to Ooty. An attempt to go beyond has opened a different image I carried of an otherwise ‘hostile’ environment. Chennai (not on tour) to Pondicherry (2 days) and on to Trichy (one day’s travel) via. 8211; Thirukadaiyur - Kumbakonam - Tanjore. Chennai to Pondi by bus and further by car. The graffiti spoke it all.

Brought back to the transit-destination a couple of hours later, but, missed the connecting flight. Wow! Stopover at Doha, and one for free! Qatar gets us a stay at Hotel Merweb al Sadd, along with food coupons. More on the hotel in tripadvisor…. But, houses like palaces sprawled the area near the hotel. Bye to Doha and off to Frankfurt….
