A New Thread....: Throwing Caution To The Wind

Sunday, July 12, 2009. Throwing Caution To The Wind. The other day we went on a bike ride. I bought a bike a while ago because it was pretty. Apparently, according to my sources, you shouldn't buy a bike because it's pretty. Just because it seems all comfy and upright doesn't mean it is comfy, and upright isn't necessarily the best position to ride (isn't any of this stuff written down somewhere? The week before, I felt up for the challenge. I am a walking billboard of a cautionary tale. Surrounding me&#...

Tuesday, March 17, 2009. I'll Take "What is Green" for $100.00, Alex. Green Produce bags made out of tulle. It seemed odd to me to lug all my canvas bags into the grocery store only to fill up plastic bags with produce, so I made these bags from netting bought at the fabric store. I've gained enormous street cred with the cashiers at Whole Foods, and that is one group that is not easily impressed, I'll tell you what. I'm hoping to put up a tutorial on this soon, so stay tuned! Damn you cursed moss stitch.

A New Thread....: December 2010
http://anewthread.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 31, 2010. Although I stand here up to my elbows in Christmas cookie dough, I am fiercely determined to get this post out before the end of 2010. I long for the day when I actually have a moment to think about anything, anything. Other than boxes of one sort or another, but until that day comes I will have to resign myself to the moments between the timer alerting me to the relative doneness of the cookies in the oven, the laundry in the washer and the packages still waiting to be wrapped.

Thursday, September 24, 2009. Thumbthing in the Way She Moves. I just finished Julia Child's My Life in France. Which I enjoyed immensely, and I've been spending some time trying to put into words exactly why. Partly it was the pure joy that she imbued throughout the process of learning to cook, and as the book progresses you can see how her love of French food expands to all things French. But mostly what I think I loved was the gradual process of her finding her true passion in life, her raison d'etre.

A New Thread....: I'll Be Looking at the Moon, But I'll Be Seeing You
http://anewthread.blogspot.com/2010/01/ill-be-looking-at-moon-but-ill-be.html
Friday, January 1, 2010. I'll Be Looking at the Moon, But I'll Be Seeing You. I will honour Christmas in my heart,. And try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons they teach. Because of several unfortunate incidents, including, but not limited to: the sunburn incident. And the great thumb incident of aught-nine. And because Christmas waits for no (wo)man, something had to give this year.
