Stuff i cook and places i eat. I was just thinking. Thursday, March 11, 2010. 64 oz frozen okra. 28 oz frozen butterbeans (Fordhook). 28 oz canned tomatoes (chopped/crushed). Small can rotel tomatoes. 64 oz tomatoe juice. Ham (cooked, as much as you like). 1 tbls. ginger. 1 tsp dry mustard. 1 Boil the okra for 3-5 minutes and drain. This is to get rid of some of the slime, don't know what it is about okra, but it's slimy. Must be served with cornbread. Tuesday, March 9, 2010. 1/2 cup brown sugar or honey.

The cafe, country store and visitor center are right across from the plant. For free and pretty good food, its worth a visit. You can also get a picture with Duke. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). They start you out with cornbread, slaw and pickled onions, add a cold drink and some fried pickles and you could call it done. The service is always good and view is hard to beat. Top O' the River.

You get apple fritters and apple butter to start with. Good vegetables and country cooking. The apple cider is fresh. Stuff i cook and places i eat. Black Eyed Pea Soup. I was just thinking. Sunday, December 4, 2011. Black Eyed Pea Soup. 1 lb dried peas (soak overnight). 1 chopped onion (or more if you like onions). Meat (I use a whole "smoked" Boston Butt but a roast will work). Salt and pepper (get a spoon and figure out how much). Hot sauce (bout 1/2 a bottle unless you've got the quart size). 1 qt diced tomatoes. Ginger (yep, ginger, got to add ginger and enough so you can taste it). Chop up an onion or two.
