I usually work from the top to the bottom in laying in the scene. Once I began the water I needed to feel my way around the space organizing the rocks and beginning to weave the rocks and water so they felt interconnected. I was fortunate enough to be raised by a very sweet, supportive family who encouraged me to be myself. And more importantly, to embrace my unique qualities. I’ve always been thankful and appreciative for that encouragement. After being in the gorgeous and inspiring town of Yelapa, Mexico for a week, this idea was brought forth again and again.

With suggestions from one of the online librarian groups I am a member of, I printed and laminated small covers of the books in the school library that make eyes water and hearts ache.
