Must Grow Something

Must learn how to garden in Cache Valley. It was a long, cold, and often wet spring. Nevertheless, we made amazing progress on our landscape. I'll hopefully get around to talking about the details in later posts. I don't usually like to play catch up but I think in this case I should because we had some significant work done. And can I say. I like having someone else do the work! Not sure square stepping stones work with a curved planting bed but hey, we had the stones so we may as well use them). We can...

Must Grow Something: June 2013

http://www.suestuffgardening.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Creating my personal garden in Cache Valley. We moved the tall containers, that I got as a Mother's Day gift years ago, with us from Illinois. They were heavy and bulky and I was so worried they would break in the move, but I love them and it was worth the risk to me. They fit well in the front entryway to the house and the colors even work with the new house. Not perfectly, but close enough. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Avalanche. zauschneria garrettii. Must Grow Something: March 2010

http://www.suestuffgardening.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Creating my personal garden in Cache Valley. March 18, 2010. Lots of healthy leaf axil buds. This morning I spent a little time cleaning up the vines and pruned just a little off the top of the longest vines. I also reworked some of the vines around the trellis. If I get around to it, great. Now I know what I'm doing. If I don't get around to it, that's okay too. It will keep and I've managed to keep the clematis alive and thriving with minimal spring care and attention up till now. March 18, 2010. I jus...

Must Grow Something: Front Door Container

http://www.suestuffgardening.blogspot.com/2011/05/front-door-container.html

Creating my personal garden in Cache Valley. For my Mother's Day gift, R and I spent the morning at The Growing Place choosing flowers for the large containers at the front door. I love, Love, LOVE this establishment and could easily visit once a week (or more), just to see how their display gardens change through the seasons, or to find a little something that needs a home in a corner of my garden somewhere, or to find inspiration in one of their display areas, or to get a question answered. Now I just ...

Must Grow Something: September 2009

http://www.suestuffgardening.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Creating my personal garden in Cache Valley. April 2009 - such a happy little plant. It bloomed and bloomed all spring. From Missouri Botanical Garden. Part shade to full shade. Prefers moist, humusy soil. Remove all damaged foliage in late winter to early spring. Spreads slowly by rhizomes. Slow-spreading clump of foliage to 12" tall. Foliage turns purplish-bronze in winter. Small dark pink flower stalks to 16" tall. No serious insect or disease problems. Branford Beauty' Lady Fern. Light to dense shade.

Must Grow Something: June 2012

http://www.suestuffgardening.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Creating my personal garden in Cache Valley. A new shade garden for Marianne. Apparently, it was a rough spring for impatiens, which meant Marianne couldn't plant them in the shallow bed in front of the duplex. Grandma Hendricks and I spent a fun morning looking for shade loving perennials while Rob very kindly turned the soil and got the bed ready for planting. The soil ended up being really nice so when we got back with our choices we went right to work. Here are the plants we added. This is a great mi...

suestuff: Disney Day One

http://sue-suestuff.blogspot.com/2012/08/disney-day-one.html

Wednesday, August 29, 2012. I'd been missing Alaina, and she admitted that even though she wasn't officially homesick, she missed us too and was eager for a visit from family. As Rob and I looked at his work and vacation schedule we wondered if we could fit a quick trip down to Florida at the end of our visit to Iowa for Cora's blessing. We had enough miles to get us to Florida from Iowa and that meant we could use a couple of standby legs to fly home. We grabbed a quick lunch and decided to cool off in ...

suestuff: May 2011

http://sue-suestuff.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 9, 2011. We finally had sun (or more like, no rain! This weekend so Rob and I picked up up a few flowers at Home Depot and The Growing Place. My favorite Mother's Day gift is plants for our front door containers (and if Rob actually joins me at the nursery then that makes the PEFECT gift! I got our front yard containers planted and a couple in the backyard. If you want to see them you can jump over to my gardening blog http:/ suestuffgardening.blogspot.com/. Sunday, May 20, 2012. Two Days at Universal Studios Florida. With Alaina all set to participate in the Disney College Internship Program, we packed our bags and headed to the airport. (. See Alaina's travelogue for the "challenges" of actually getting to the plane on her blog. We had a lovely layover in Houston where we were surprised by the echo chamber in the crossroads between terminals. If you happen to be traveling through that airport see if you can find it. Almost too good to be true. We only had ...

http://sue-suestuff.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Let the Landscaping Commence. I am way behind on posting, but rather than going into the past and quickly posting about the last six or seven months I am going to jump in to the present. As I find the time I will try to catch up on past events and memories. I've really missed the garden that Rob and I created back in Aurora. We worked very hard over the twelve years we lived there to create a yard that we loved. I am older than I was twelve years ago. Note: when I say garden I me...

A MissAlainius Life: And almost one year later...

http://missalainius.blogspot.com/2013/04/and-almost-one-year-later.html

Tuesday, April 2, 2013. And almost one year later. I'm posting again. Would you look at that? I'm not supposed to be advertising tumblr right now, so I'll stop talking about that. The important thing is that while I made my first post on that blog, I thought, "hey, I should cross-post to Blogspot! My family might care about this stuff, too! And if I'm getting myself in the habit of blogging again, I can come here to post non-artsy things as well. Is how you make your life extraordinary.

Thursday, May 17, 2012. Leavin' On a Jet Plane. If you're reading this right now, most likely. You're incredibly confused why I'd either be emailing you or why this blog is suddenly being updated after over a YEAR of inactivity. And hopefully, if you're reading this, you already know what's going on in my life that's exciting enough to start anew and promise myself to blog more. I'm going to Disney World! This is a life that promises many, many adventures! We're already in Orlando, and even just getting.

Monday, February 21, 2011. Play It Again Sami June 17, 1996 - February 18, 2011. We welcomed Sami into our hearts, our home and our family in the summer of 1996. By the way - I have since repented of making this decision without Rob's input and he has forgiven me. I need to find and scan some of the pictures we took of her first days home with us. She was such an adorable little gremlin with her big ears and tiny little body. This is the only picture I have saved digitally from her puppy stage. She loved...

A MissAlainius Life: Look, Ma! It moves!

http://missalainius.blogspot.com/2013/04/look-ma-it-moves.html

Monday, April 15, 2013. Suzy wanted us to try animating in photoshop (so we can make e-books or whatever) before the semester and gave us a little over 2 hours to work on it as an exercise. I haven’t animated in photoshop (…or at all) for about five years, so it was FUN to realize what I do and don’t remember. And yes. It’s choppy. I realize. But I also was getting kicked out of the classroom soooo). The Real Life of Mark and Em. April 15, 2013 at 11:23 PM. April 16, 2013 at 4:45 PM. For Kicks and Giggles.
