Friday, May 28, 2010. Egg Foo Young: The Chinese Torta. Everyone loves a good bountiful omelette that's why Egg foo young is a safe dish to order in an Asian restaurant. This is offered in a lot of variations like crab, shrimp, pork, mushrooms etc. I make this dish when I have kids around coz they LOVE this. One thing they don't realize, half of the ingredients are vegetables. (Yes mommies, you want to trick your child/husband on eating veggies? Make this for dinner tonight! 6-10 medium shrimps, chopped.

Friday, August 20, 2010. Bicol Express: My Tamer Version. Bicol dishes are known for two things: gata (Coconut milk) and chillies. Their dishes are usually made using a small red chili called labuyo. Which is a hotter local variety, but since labuyo is not easily available in the US, long green chillies or japaleno can be a good and milder substitute. Spice Meter Rating: 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest - This recipe is a 3. 1 lb pork thinly sliced (I used country style pork ribs). 1 can Coconut milk.

Monday, April 11, 2011. Tinolang Manok (Chicken Soup with Chayote and Spinach) a la Kam. As you may already know, I am HUGE fan of chayote, and so it's just obvious that I love any dish that has it. Tinolang manok is one of my favorite dishes to make, mainly because it is fast, easy and soothing (hmm ginger) especially when served hot over steamed rice. Other versions use dahong sili (chili leaves) or malunggay (moringa), but if you live in the US, I would recommend using fresh spinach. 2 Chayote, sliced.
