The Summer of Epicness

The Summer of Epicness. Documenting my quest to complete Colorado's 14ers, and other fun times in the mountains. Sunday, November 21, 2010. Chapter 16: Mt. Sneffels. I know, I know, I'm ridiculously behind on my blogs. No excuses. I do apologize. We awoke in the morning at a fairly reasonable time - probably about 5am? There are two main ways to the summit. The "official" route goes up two really steep and loose gullies. I had heard bad things about this route. The rest of the hike we sort of. Plus side ...

Weekly mileage: 16 miles. Weekly elevation gain: 6,275'.

The Summer of Epicness. Documenting my quest to complete Colorado's 14ers, and other fun times in the mountains. Friday, August 27, 2010. Chapter 13: Hanging Lake. After the intense climb on the LB-Blanca traverse, this was a fantastic weekend to take it easy and relax a bit. The plan was to take the church group up to Hanging Lake, a gorgeous lake near Glenwood Springs, about 2.5 hours from Denver. After a few cancellations, it ended up just being three of us, but it was still a great time. The light of...

The Summer of Epicness: Chapter 15a: Capitol Peak

http://www.summerofepicness.blogspot.com/2010/09/chapter-15a-capitol-peak.html

The Summer of Epicness. Documenting my quest to complete Colorado's 14ers, and other fun times in the mountains. Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Chapter 15a: Capitol Peak. Our original plan was to do this as well, after all, 17 miles is a really. At this point, my legs were getting tired, as I have never done a climb this long where I was going uphill for this long, plus I had burned myself out trying to set too fast of. After resting a bit at the car, we packed up and drove to Glenwood Springs for some di...

The Summer of Epicness. Documenting my quest to complete Colorado's 14ers, and other fun times in the mountains. Thursday, August 12, 2010. Chapter 11: Colorado Trail Section 9. Well, I'm pretty much back on schedule. This last weekend, there was some talk of climbing Little Bear. When one of the three of us couldn't make it, we pushed it back and I joined Jess and the hiking group on the Colorado Trail, section #9. It is a short enough section that we decided to hike it as a day hike. Summer mileage: 15...

The Summer of Epicness. Documenting my quest to complete Colorado's 14ers, and other fun times in the mountains. Friday, June 25, 2010. Chapter 4: Kit Carson/Challenger. Hmm it's only been a few weeks in and I'm already slacking on the blog writing. Not a good sign, but I'll try to do better. This last weekend was marked on the calendar as the first 14ers of the season. Let the epicness begin! Views Eventually, our hunger got the best of us and went back down to set up camp and cook dinner. After tha...

a summer of eco-love

A summer of eco-love. Friday, August 7, 2009. The reggatronic, winelious, stingy, and sneaky adventures of 2 humble streammates. This weekend Shannangans and I thought it would be fun to go to California for her birthday (she just turned 21. So we left on Friday morning and drove 7 hours down to Crescent City, which is in the northernmost part of California, and found a random RV park to stay at for the night. To wind down from a long day of driving, we got Jack-in-the-Box (a first for both of us), a...

Emily in Ethiopia

Monday, March 14, 2011. Reflections 2 Coffee and Tea Time in Ethiopia. There is one other hot beverage, known as Shai, which is half coffee, half tea. Ethiopians like mixing things: coke and ambo (a natural sparkling water), spaghetti and injera. I’ve try Shai once and found it made me even more hyper than regular coffee! Wednesday, March 9, 2011. With the countdown on my time here set at 10 days, it seems like I should be doing some reflecting, Mostly though, I am just doing lots of work! Leaving Ethiop...

The Summer of Equis

The Summer of Equis. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. For Lent this year, I decided to give up Facebook. It seemed like am impossible sacrifice, and that I was setting myself up for failure. But I felt like I was being called to do so this year. Do I miss being on Facebook more? But I don't miss the drama. I don't miss the politics. I don't miss getting into debates with people I don't know. I'm sure that giving up time on Facebook will not last past Lent. But I hope I remember the lessons I...Did you remem...

Summer of Fixpocalypse

It's gonna be a great Summer! Monday, November 17, 2008. I think this was the first alleycat i've been in where i had to find my own way around a fair bit, and i guess i did okay. next time i will try to stick with brendan and matt, who placed highly. i think i can keep up? Maybe, and they know the way. the fastest on the day was miles, in a superman costume i believe. Only complaint i had was that it was too short, i was just starting to really enjoy it by the time we got to the end. This is just weird.
