Glass Half Full: COS Bravado
http://seanoday.blogspot.com/2011/06/colorado-springs-has-best-trail-system.html
Monday, June 20, 2011. Colorado Springs has the best trail system in the United States. There I said it. With all due respect to those who reside in Boulder, Ft. Collins, Flagstaff, Bend, and Eugene.I just don't see how it could get any better than what we've got down here in southern Colorado. Why this sudden burst of bravado for my hometown? Hosted the Ponderous Posterior. Out-of-towners got to see a slice of what COS has to offer in Williams, Waldo, Barr, Longs Ranch, Intemann, and Red Rocks. That...

Glass Half Full: July 2013
http://seanoday.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Bells Traverse in pictures. Part 1 - gaining the ridge. Aka "the warm-up" aka "the Incline without steps". 3,000' gain in just over a mile. Part 2 - Maroon's south ridge. Aka let the fun begin. It's much more of a face than a ridge, but what do I know. Part 3 - The Traverse. Aka don't tell mom. Part 4 - descending North Maroon. Aka "rock glacier hell". This was my second time ringing the Bells, the first being back in 2010 with Patrick. Links to this post. Monday, July 15, 2013.

Glass Half Full: Tour de Yale!
http://seanoday.blogspot.com/2012/05/tour-de-yale.html
Monday, May 28, 2012. So there I was, wilting in the early afternoon sun after many hours of running, 2/3 of the way up a climb that would take me from 9,000' to 12,000'. Powerhiking was draining me; running was out of the question. If you guessed Hope Pass, not quite. However, if you guessed Hope Pass, then you might want to read on and give this loop a shot yourself some day. 7 hours 50 minutes. First part of the day - up Cottonwood Creek to Kroenke Lake (where the red line disappears in the upper left).

Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Mt Shavano(14,229') via the Angel of Shavano. Esprit Point" (13,630'). Fun, "easy" day with Jake. Last time we were up Shavano was a little.hairier. Some pictures from the day. The Angel runs out at about 12,100'. The right arm melts first, but the left is good until 13,300'. Is it the socks or the shorts that make the man? Dirty, dirty snow. Found this in my mitten. Nice surprise. I had a couple extra minutes upon topping out on the Angel to reach 13,620' Esprit Point. At about 11...
