Art-Life-Rust: Homework
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2015/07/homework.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. I'm trying to be a good student, actually doing some of the homework as assigned in the Kate Thompson online portrait class I'm taking. I'm trying to just relax and let them be learning experiences as I work with different lighting and materials, and not get all invested in the results as my perfectionist self tends to do. As a break from portraits I painted this in my fabric journal to practice with the retarder. July 16, 2015 at 1:02 AM. July 17, 2015 at 3:30 AM. These are wonde...
Art-Life-Rust: August 2015
http://art-life-rust.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 24, 2015. A variety of journal pages, trying to finish one - 15 pages to go! I can't explain why I suddenly feel the need to actually COMPLETE something, but then I probably don't need to as you all most likely totally understand. And this is good practice for me to just work on quick pages, not get too invested in them, and move on. Always good for me to be working consistently on a (mostly) daily basis. Links to this post. Monday, August 17, 2015. Jewelry re-purposing and art journal push.
Art by Nicola McLean : Memory of a sunset...a Scottish seascape.

Subscribe to my newsletter. Friday, 17 July 2015. Memory of a sunset.a Scottish seascape. Memory of a sunset' - 4x4 inch canvas in 7.5 x 7.5 inch box frame. There's an expression that life can turn on a dime. To put it into UK currency that would probably be a five pence piece (doesn't have quite the same ring to it! And your stupid wrist has stupid crush injuries which means even after nearly three weeks you can't even hold a stupid paintbrush far less paint a stupid picture. I'm so delighted as I never...

http://www.nicsearth.com/2015/07/on-other-hand.html
Subscribe to my newsletter. Friday, 31 July 2015. On the other hand. Rain in the city' - 2x2 inch impasto acrylic. Anyway, a few folk suggested trying to paint or draw with my non-dominant hand just for fun and to relieve the frustration of not having painted for so long. I decided to give it a go. I knew it would be a pretty abstract piece as, having practiced writing the alphabet using my right hand and seeing how very difficult that was (how did we ever learn to write as children! It's quite a big sho...
Art by Nicola McLean : The silver lining.
http://www.nicsearth.com/2015/07/the-silver-lining.html
Subscribe to my newsletter. Thursday, 2 July 2015. The silver lining' - impasto acrylic on canvas 2x2 inch. This has been the worst summer that I can remember, as far as rubbish weather is concerned. When you're walking the dogs on the beach in June and still need a hat and gloves, you know something isn't right. Back at the cottage I decided to do a little painting of it which I then framed and added to my Artfinder. Shop A few days later, it was featured in one of Artfinder's newsletters. As for me, we...

Monday, July 20, 2015. The Last Empty Wall Space. It's completely crooked in every way though so it's hard to imagine - part of it's mystery I guess! I'm charmed by misfits and the general size was right so I brought it home and have been eyeing it ever since, trying to decide what to do with it. It was a good break from the portrait work I've been doing, and really fun to get back to one of my great loves, mixed media assemblage. Links to this post. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. sunbreaksandshowers | Growing in the Pacific Northwest
Growing in the Pacific Northwest. Let the blooming begin. Asymp; Leave a comment. Blizzard, White out, polar vortex? Not what I see out my window. Showers with occasional sunbreaks dominate the winter sky. But January’s blooming plants give hope that spring will soon be here. Sarcococca hides amongst plantings in a border “shared” with my gardening neighbor. The leaves are thin and glossy contrasting nicely with the rhododendron and camellia. Low growing, it could be easily missed exc...

break in the sun till the sun breaks down
Break in the sun till the sun breaks down. 17 July 2011 @ 11:04 pm. Homestuck; in passing. Kanaya never intended to become a selfish creature, but she wants to sit out in the sun on the same side of the fence as Rose. They don't have to talk, or even look at one another; she can kneel in the grass, fingers wrapped around stubborn weeds, while Rose sits a way off, reading or writing or even knitting, the both of them simply contented by the other's presence. Wrote this in ninety minutes to see if I could!
