Auditory Scene Analysis - Sundeep Teki
http://www.sundeepteki.org/auditory-scene-analysis.html
Timing and Time Perception. Auditory scene analysis refers to the problem of extracting a sound of interest from a background of multiple sounds. We encounter this. Human listeners can quickly and robustly detect such "figures" from the "ground". The temporal coherence between the channels in the "figure" is an important cue for segregation (based on modelling work). The brain is highly sensitive to the emergence of such "figures", even in the absence of attention (using MEG). 2 Teki S, Chait M, Kumar S,...

Timing and Time Perception - Sundeep Teki
http://www.sundeepteki.org/timing-and-time-perception.html
Timing and Time Perception. Timing and Time Perception. Accurate timing is an integral aspect of sensory and motor processes such as the perception of speech and music and the execution of skilled movement such as playing a musical instrument or dancing. The brain lacks a dedicated system for processing time (unlike sensory systems for processing vision, sound and touch) which makes time perception a challenging problem in neuroscience. For more information, see these publications -. 3 Allman MJ,. 9 Teki...

Time perception and the heart. January 31, 2017. The heart has held a central place in theories of human function for centuries. It was proclaimed as the seat of life in Ancient Greek and Byzantine medical literature, and the Ancient Egyptians embalmed their dead by carefully preserving the heart while unceremoniously discarding the brain. The idea that periodic physiological signals might constitute a biological clock is not new. Which explains why physiological factors such as arousal. Spectral compone...

Subsecond timing relies on dynamic excitability of local cortical circuits. October 31, 2016. We know that the passage of time at multiple time scales can influence neural activity. But what brain mechanisms are responsible for the encoding of time itself? Is there a specialised. Mechanism or module that measures the elapsed time and informs other brain areas or neuronal populations about the current position on the time axis? Or is time encoded in a distributed. In a recent article in. Goel A, Buonomano...

Timing and Time Perception. 8203;I am a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow. At the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford. My current work with Professor Andy King examines the neural code for speech recognition as well as sequence learning and generalization. My long-term research goal is to understand how the brain learns and acquires knowledge about the sensory world and transfers it to novel experiences. I have been endorsed by the Royal Society. PhD in Neuroscience.
