Amusing musings from my travels. I traveled to three incredibly different places around the world in the last three months, but everyone I know asked one major question about them all: Is it safe? In the next few weeks I will be covering tips on traveling to northern Morocco and Israel. But today I’m focusing on our sunny neighbor to the south. One of the most beautiful summer traditions I’ve found Connecticut is the annual Sunflowers for Wishes. The 2015 event will take place July 18th – 26th....Large, ...

Friday, August 12, 2011. Beautiful, bright, happy Sunflowers. Are this weeks flower! Are a wonderful flower. To have in any garden. You sow them once and they will return for years, though not as abundant as the first year. And bees from all around. I make sure I have sunflowers. In my garden every year. Next year I will plant a new crop of sunflowers and try some new varieties. I generally let the sunflowers die off in the garden as they will provide a constant food source for the birds.

Sunday, August 30, 2009. It's amazing just how much Owen has grown in the seven months since his surgery. At his 15 month check-up last week he weighed in at a healthy 24 pounds 9 ounces (50 th. Percentile) and 33 and 3/4 inches (97 th. Percentile). He's on track with his motor and verbal skills - adding lots of new words each day. We're so excited that he's starting to say two syllable. I was looking back at my post from seven months ago on Jan. 30 th. Sunday, August 16, 2009. Friday, August 14, 2009.

The art of living from my home to yours. Wednesday, July 30, 2008. SUNFLOWERS. SUNFLOWERS. and SUNFLOWERS. IN A FEW short weeks the radiant blooms opened, filled the rolling Connecticut fields with light and joy, and then passed. With a fully packed picnic basket, my girlfriend Jodie. Her daughter Brianna and I drove to Buttonwood Farm. Located in a rural town of Griswold for another "must-see" Saturday fun. The pretty girl with the parasol stopped to smell the flowers. A quick dip at a nearby pond.

Nature On Our Minds. How strange that Nature does not knock, and yet does not intrude! Newer posts →. They Shoot Mushrooms Don’t They? September 27, 2010. I call this the Mushroom Hotel. This was my first “mushroom hunt”. I wish I could tell you no mushrooms were harmed during this event, but I would be lying. I came to take pictures because I think mushrooms are beautiful and funny. Everyone else came to forage for food! Fortunately, I was able to take some pictures before the decapitations began. I’m o...
