Stay up to see the largest supermoon in 70 years on November 14th! We have just started our solar system unit. Last Thursday and this week we have been primarily focusing on the Sun, the Earth, and the moon. Even though moon observations for homework start after the Thanksgiving break, we encourage everyone to check out the moon tomorrow night to see some history. Stay up on Monday night (14th) to see the largest supermoon in 70 years! Our moon won’t be this close to Earth for another 20 years!

Some new book titles groups have started to read include: Bud, Not Buddy. By Christopher Paul Curtis and Riding Freedom. Author of the Month:. Louis Sachar is our new author of the month. This native New Yorker is well known for his mystery-comedy, Holes. We’ve been reading his first book, Sideway Stories from Wayside School,. A funny collection of short fiction stories.

SF Symphony Field Trip Reminder- 11/30/16. Just a reminder that we will be going to the SF Symphony this Wednesday (11/30) for an 11:30 performance. We will be traveling by BART and leaving school at around 10:30 and returning during lunch time. This trip won’t affect the School Foodies program. In writing, students have learned: how to stretch out small moments, strategies to generate ideas and how to use a storyteller’s voice. We’re studying Karen Hesse’s Come On.
