The Community Branch is a joint-venture between Heritage Bank and the local community, represented by Palmwoods Community Branch Ltd. It was established after 99 local investors raised $200,000 in capital to help set up the branch in 2006. Maroochy River Paddle ». The Maroochy River Paddle. Is a marathon paddling race on the Maroochy River starting upstream at the Dunethin Rock Scout Camp. And travelling downstream with the out-going tide to finish 17 Km later in Eudlo Creek at the Sunshine Coast Paddlesports Club. The inaugural event was held in 2012 The MRP is held annually to celebrate all paddle sports. On the Sunshine Coast and the beauty of the Maroochy River. Maroochy River Paddle ». The race is conducted under the ICF marathon rules and sanctioning with indemnity insurance from QLD Canoeing. Starts are staggered in groups according to craft. Safety boats accompany the paddlers. At the end of the race paddlers mingle and enjoy delicious food from the BBQ. Paddlers must paddle in the start designated on the program for their craft. The first start (recreation and novice paddlers) is the exception to this rule. Rec and Novice any Craft. TK1, Surf Ski 1, OC1.

Maroochy River Paddle ». In August 2013 Kimberley paddled her K1 in the Maroochy River Paddle in a time of 1hr 33min 43 secs. She, along with her husband Mark, was a regular competitor in Sunshine Coast Kayak Club marathon events. Until a very short time before her death Kimberly was a fit, competitive athlete, a picture of vibrant health. Her life ended tragically early after a short but unwinnable battle with cancer.
