Liz in Ed Tech. December 1, 2009. 8212; eciminelli @ 12:47 am. I enjoyed making the Web Quest project the most becasue it was fun to make and I feel that the idea that I came up with is something that would really engage students. I got the idea of doing a “Who’s coming to dinner” activity where students have to role play a dinner party with historical figures. I think that I will try to use this lesson plan in a class in the future. 5 Comments ». It sounds like so much fun! I am trying to talk my dad in...

Liz in Ed Tech. October 19, 2009. 8212; Tags: cyberbully. 8212; eciminelli @ 10:23 pm. I have been researching a new phenomenon called ‘ Cyberbullying. A lot of the literature and research out there points to the idea that talking to your children and students about the issue of internet harassment in frank terms, regularly, is the best way to combat cyberbullying. The issue is so new that there are disputes about what the effects. Unless students use school computers or make school unsafe, public school...

Liz in Ed Tech. December 9, 2009. Another cool thing I found on the internet. 8212; eciminelli @ 12:27 pm. Here is by far the best ebook website I have found yet. It’s called Many Books. And they have a really wide selection of books, and I have already downloaded a few of them, like ‘The King in Yellow”. I am excited to read this because it inspired one of my other favorite writers, H.P. Lovecraft. Another cool thing I found was this create your own comic site. Finally I made my first web page!

Liz in Ed Tech. November 25, 2009. 8212; eciminelli @ 7:33 am. I want to review a few websites in this post. It’s coming to the end of the semester and I want to do some posts that can wrap up some of the information that I have learned this semester. Our professor has shown us a lot of really cool websites but one of the websites I like the most is Delicious. That isn’t really the best use of the site, but I have been using it frequently and I find it to be a helpful site to have on hand.

Liz in Ed Tech. November 7, 2009. 8212; eciminelli @ 12:55 am. How do we make teachers feel like they have support if they don’t know where to look for it? 9 Comments ». Excellent observations, Liz. The concept of a virtual PLN has been revolutionary for so many teachers for this reason – the feel (or are) unsupported on many levels at their own schools and in their school districts. In 2009, this is indeed a travesty, when much of what we have been learning about is… free. Comment by Stephen Ransom.

Liz in Ed Tech. November 24, 2009. 8212; eciminelli @ 11:19 pm. I was talking to one of my readers and he asked me to elaborate on my post about reading from a nook. He wanted to know of there is any research out there on whether or not people retain more information form a computer screen or from a printed material. That may sound odd, but at the moment, we consider primary sources. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Other Ed Tech Blogs.

Don’t loose your book! | Liz in Ed Tech

Liz in Ed Tech. November 9, 2009. Don’t loose your book! 8212; Tags: books. 8212; eciminelli @ 11:46 pm. But I can also see a downside- students must have a computer at hand (and remember their user name and password) in order for this to work. Maybe students (or parents) should be given the option of choosing an e or print book for their child? This also reminds me of something else I was doing earlier on in the day and that was researching the nook. 9 Comments ». Comment by Kim R. 8212; November 13, 20...
