Suomi Talvi

Friday, March 9, 2007. Having lived here for nearly three months, I feel it's time to report on some of Finland's quirky and creative contributions to modern society. Things that might be worthy of importation. Finnovations. The over-the-sink drying cabinet. When I first moved into my city centre apartment, I found the kitchen to be as expected. Small fridge, even smaller freezer, appliances with bizarrely large European plugs, normal cabinetry. Believe it or not, a number of sidewalks around Helsinki's ...

Suomi Talvi: GRANDIOSA!

http://suomitalvi.blogspot.com/2007/01/grandiosa.html

Sunday, January 21, 2007. Since I can't get the jingle. Out of my head, I thought I'd share it with everyone. So how is the Grandiosa pan pizza? January 23, 2007 at 6:38 PM. That looks awful, but oddly enough, makes me crave pizza. January 27, 2007 at 12:57 AM. Is it me, or would the Shark Dance go so nicely with that little diddy? January 27, 2007 at 7:28 AM. How'd you get it in your head in the first place? January 31, 2007 at 12:58 AM. Can you really sing that jingle? Sounds oddly Japanese to me!

Suomi Talvi: December 2006

http://suomitalvi.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 21, 2006. The Shortest Day of the Year. The short days lead to a real feeling of productivity: I got up, worked out, got ready for work, ate breakfast and made it to work - all before sunrise! And when the sun begins to set, it feels like it's time to pack things up and leave work for home. The other advantage is the possibility of seeing beautiful sunrises and sunsets everyday. Links to this post. Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Sorry for the Disturbation". From my hotel's breakfast buffe...

Suomi Talvi: Back in Finland (guestblog)

http://suomitalvi.blogspot.com/2007/01/back-in-finland-guestblog.html

Saturday, January 6, 2007. Back in Finland (guestblog). Apologies for the long pause. Tytto is back in Finland, after jaunts in Paris and Amsterdam. This is Töölönlahti reporting. Guest reporting. Guest blogporting. Tytto is busy, determining which clothes are clean and which are not by smell. We are in a lovely apartment in downtown Helsinki, a hop skip and one jump to the Esplanade and the water. "Katu" means street in Finnish. Can you hew a cup of coffee from the coffee beans? I also went to Suomenlin...

Suomi Talvi: Another Thing

http://suomitalvi.blogspot.com/2007/01/another-thing.html

Sunday, January 21, 2007. Em, that commercial made my whole day. Every time I feel a bit sad, I will click on that link and feel happy once more. January 22, 2007 at 10:58 PM. I love the traveling panda! January 23, 2007 at 6:37 PM. It's nice to see that Hua Mei has finally escaped the constraints of the panda cam. January 27, 2007 at 7:29 AM. I loved it too, but c'mon. As IF there are pandas in Finland. C'MON! February 13, 2007 at 9:56 PM. Buy Mobile Spy Online. Mode=newtopic&f=12 http:/ www.ruffstu...

Three C's: January 2007

http://cookingcoffeecontriving.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 29, 2007. Opiates everywhere and not a drop to eat. So not having a cooking adventure in awhile I decided to take on the poppy bread. Jeff's cousin was coming over for brunch on Sunday so I thought it might be a nice treat to have in the bread basket. Not wanting to wake up really early Sunday morning for the three risings that the recipe called for, I decided to start the bread on Saturday. 1 an oven that was exactly heated to 400 degrees. 2 a very dark loaf of poppy bread. How dumb am I?
