Our Adventures in Renos, Farming, Family, and Life. When it rains, it pours! February 29, 2016. We bought a new-to-us van on Monday, so, naturally, something expensive was bound to break. Low and behold, during a week long stomach bug, our water pressure plummeted(great timing of course! Old tank vs New Tank. Our Adventures in Renos, Farming, Family, and Life. When you buy a home that you know needs work, you try to plan for what you’re going to work on first, and what you hope to work on last. However, when buying the fixer-upper, things rarely go in order. Our roof is something we knew needed to be re-done, though we were hoping not to do it until next year. The original part of the house has a tin roof, the addition off the back was done in shingles. Why were things done this way? Tears from the roof?
