Friday, June 6, 2003. A spectrum of questions. In reference to the Bush Administration's planned year long review. Of government radio spectrum use, Kevin Werbach. Will this simply transfer spectrum from government agencies and the military to private licensees, or will the administration consider the more revolutionary change of opening up some of that spectrum on an unlicensed basis? If the democrats are the party of weath redistribution. And the republicans the party of wealth creation. The means....

David isn't a blogger, but he's been doing the equivalent since long before the term "blog" was born. Here's some of what he says about Marqui's pay-for-blog. Other outfits covered: KaltAz.com. A 'radio cooperative' that's 'devoted to playing Arizona's local artists') and BzzAgent.com. Which was covered in this New York Times story by Rob Walker. Rob Walker in the Times says,. Where Marqui is up front about...

Thursday, December 6, 2001. Great op ed piece. Today by Bill Safire in the New York Times. Preparing to tell the Senate Judiciary Committee where to get off today, Attorney General John Ashcroft lashed out at all who dare to uphold our bedrock rule of law as "voices of negativism." (A nattering nabob, moi? This greased the way for what Safire later calls The sudden seizure of power by the executive branch, bypassing all constitutional checks and balances. Yesterday I neglected to mention that Hanan Cohen.

Senior Vice President and General Manager, Ad Management, DoubleClick. On Finding a use for user-generated content. Are in quotes, while obligatory. Are not. Saturday, March 24, 2007. How to Save Newspapers. I'm hearing rumors that the San Francisco Chronicle. Is in big trouble. Apparently, Phil Bronstein, the editor-in-chief, told staff in a recent "emergency meeting" that the news business "is broken, and no one knows how to fix it." ("And if any other paper says they do, they're lying."). What kinds of jobs that current newspapers do would go undone? Second, embrace the best bloggers. How? 1) Stop giving away the news and charging for the olds. It Today we...

Closing the gap between your mouse and your tummy. Shall we play a game? Ok, so we may not have fooled as many. We had planned, but we sure had a helluva good time. Thanks to all the conspirators involved in our fun: Kevin and Deb @ Supernova. And most especially Wayne Lambright. For an amazing demo performance and for putting together some awesome screenshot mockups. Along with the ZapMeals company blog. I cooked up a few weeks ago, Wayne really made our ‘fake’ business come to life! You can follow any ...

Saturday, July 28, 2007. This past week, Ben Peters. Talked about close reading of text (and also about too much. Reading, another worthy subject). This comes to mind as I read Jos Schuurmans. The Cluetrain Manifesto on the rebirth of conversations. Wherein he excerpts a long series of quotes that remind me of three things: 1) I haven't read the book in years; 2) There's a lot of good stuff in there; and 3) The future, as William Gibson said, is not evenly distributed. It's funny, when we posted Cluetrain.
