Control system with airfeed. Out of the cited experimental developments, methods were verified for changing lift of profiles injecting air into the grooves. This development did go a decisive step beyond earlier work done in the early 70‘s summarized with the patent below. Typical lift-change as a function of injected air, taken from tests at IMHEF Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne high speed cavitation tunnel runs. Supramar Anti Cavitation Groove.

PT-10, the first commercial hydrofoil boat 1952. PT-20 MKII, the first of a long series of commercial vessels. PT-50 MKII, the first featuring stabilizing with airfed foils. PT-75 MKIII, the latest for coastal waters with stabilizing system. PT-150 MKII, the biggest in this series with stabilizing system. MT-250, a military application project.

Since its foundation in 1952, Supramar has provided a worldwide consultancy service, covering not only its hydrofoil vessels but also other aspects of fast marine transport. The company has been under contract to many governements and military services. Supramar developed, on a commercial basis, the hydrofoil system incroduced by the Schertel-Sachsenberg Hydrofoil syndicate and its licensee, the Gebrüder. In May 1953 the world‘s first passenger hydrofoil service. Hydrofoil vessels are still in service.

Supramar Anti Cavitation Groove. Out of the experimental development in the IMHEF high speed cavitation tunnel of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne for controlled airfed profiles a surprising new concept was proven. By a special groove on the surface of practically any profile it is possible to avoid cavitation or supercavitation at high speed and low sigma operation. It extended by proper groove dimensions applicability to very high speeds. And leading to the patent filed below.
