Bits and pieces of a very battered medical student. Thursday, July 28, 2005. Man are inherently selfish. Maybe it is the inevitable consequences of evolution - perhaps it is the selfish gene that made us such a successful race. Can somebody be totally selfless? I guess the answer is no. Why, you might ask. To be totally honest, I do not yet have a very logical arguement to present on this matter, but here are two points worth considering:. 2 Consider for a second, what is selfishness? However, it is obvi...

Bits and pieces of a very battered medical student. Friday, August 05, 2005. Corpus started on his eye attachment yesterday and met a very chatty surgeon. This guy talks! One thing he said, which I think is quite interesting, is his opinion on what makes a good surgeon. It's not how quickly you can do a cataract surgery that determines if you're a good surgeon. Ultimately it's the end results that counts - how well a patient can see, and how well were the complications (if at all) managed.". He who knows...

Bits and pieces of a very battered medical student. Monday, August 08, 2005. Corpus nearly got knocked down by a cyclist today. It happened like this:. To let it pass. Now, at this point, there was a 4 feet gap between me and the curb, and all the space behind me that she could have gone passed. What did the cyclist do? Bits and pieces of a very battered medical student. Tuesday, August 02, 2005. Having been on a surgical firm for the past week, Corpus found out some more disturbing facts about the NHS - my trust does not have shoe-covers! On the first day of the firm I asked them for some shoe-covers for going into the theatre - I do not have my own theatre shoes. The reply I got was staggering - the trust no longer purchases shoe-covers and that I should just go into the theatres with my bare, naked outside shoes!
