Surgical Savagery

Friday, December 11, 2009. This Weeks Random Pieces of Flare: Totally Random Acts of Design. These logos are pretty weird. I wonder how they would be graded in this, or any design class. Even after a few design classes, i still can't figure the grading system, is it objective, or subjective. Either way, i hope the designers of these logos were paid well.i doubt it. I just like the whole arrow going down the barrel of the gun, it goes well with the title "Weird War". Show and Tell" An Unecessary Process.

Surgical Savagery: Anime Pick: Naruto The Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow

http://www.surgicalsavagery.blogspot.com/2009/12/anime-pick-naruto-movie-ninja-clash-in.html

Friday, December 11, 2009. Anime Pick: Naruto The Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow. My biggest complaint about anime is that most of it is extremely derivative as if it's all drawn from the same general template then modified slightly. The charcters have a cookie-cutter feel to them. Naruto lacks any originality at all. The look of the snow ninja's was pretty cool, but their boss was totally unoriginal. Overall the animation is fairly good but it's not going to win any awards.

Friday, November 20, 2009. More Random Pieces of Flare. Now, what's the point of a bookshelf, when you can't fit any books on it? Too, throw away your money. Very interesting design from the Spanish studio enPieza, it is called Colgao. enPieza is a team of different disciplined professionals inside the design field who produce product, industrial, graphic, web or exhibitions work. Hope it's not a dung beetle, eeeewwww! November 23, 2009 at 7:48 AM. December 10, 2009 at 7:21 PM. More Random Pieces of Flare.

Surgical Savagery: "Show and Tell" An Unecessary Process

http://www.surgicalsavagery.blogspot.com/2009/12/show-and-tell-unecessary-process.html

Friday, December 11, 2009. Show and Tell" An Unecessary Process. I have always thought that those "How to Draw" books were pointless. How many times can you draw a dog in this one pose. All you are really doing is memorizing someone's design. The process starts off good, with how the dog's head is broken down into basic shapes, but then the use of shapes is abandoned. Besides, the look on the dog's face is pretty lame. December 14, 2009 at 12:07 PM. Ha ha thats how I draw! View my complete profile.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009. A Designer's Eye: Baltimore Harbor Waterkeeper. Even the word "Waterkeepers" looks visibly balanced with the placement of the registered trademark on the corner (similar to where the "W" starts on the opposite side). Finally, the use of complementary colors (blue and orange) for the text really works for me as well. The blue works to encapsulate the cityscape and the orange really draws the reader's eye to it and, ultimately the name of the event. Brandon G. DeStefano.

Monday, January 11, 2010. From the Box Office: Sherlock Holmes. Robert Downey, Jr. continues to impress me with the phoenix-like resurrection of his career, adding another stellar performance to his resume with Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. Playing the title role of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's enigmatic detective only goes to cement his standing among the Hollywood elite and A-list actors. Brandon G. DeStefano. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tuesday, May 25, 2010. A Designer's Eye: Typography - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Although it's been a few months, I'm ready to jump back into the saddle and start contributing to the blog-o-sphere again! So, without further ado, here we go. Here are few of the ones that really stood out:. These next two examples I found to be very interesting. Both make use of horizontal lines to break the letters within the design, but each one seems unfinished. In the first example, I fail to see why the designer ...

Monday, November 30, 2009. A Designer's Eye: Starbuck Campaign. Just in time for the season, Starbucks has rolled out their latest campaign for their holiday drinks. I saw these at work ('cause we "Proudly Serve Starbucks Coffee" and therefore have to advertise for them.) and just had to grab a picture of them. The composition is excellent and the contrast in colors make them stand together as a campaign, but apart enough to stand on their own. Enjoy! Brandon G. DeStefano. Saturday, November 28, 2009.

Project: Stylus: A Designer's Perspective: Branding & Brand Management

http://projectstylus.blogspot.com/2010/10/branding.html

Monday, October 25, 2010. A Designer's Perspective: Branding and Brand Management. Branding. It's a term that is bandied around quite frequently these days, especially in the world of social media and viral marketing. It's something that has been on my radar for quite a while, as I've been working to "brand" myself and my freelance work to a broader audience. That alone is the reasons I found last week's lecture so useful. Suggest product quality,. Suggest product benefits,. Be distinctive, and. The seco...

Saturday, June 13, 2009. Adobe Illustrator: Pen Tool Workshop - What I Learned. Yesterday, I attended the second of series of design workshops I'm taking this summer in preparation for Grad School this fall. This one focused on one of the more important, yet confusing tools in the Adobe Illustrator Toolbox: The Pen Tool. As with the One-day InDesign Workshop, I found this to be hughly beneficial and a resource that was well worth both the time and money invested. Up Next: InDesign: Type Styles Workshop!

As a fan of one of the best science-fiction television shows to debut in the last 20 years, I was understandably distraught when hearing the news that.
