the surviving Mormon couple: Summer Strengths

http://www.survivingmormoncouple.blogspot.com/2014/08/summer-strengths.html

Thursday, August 14, 2014. It is August 14th today which means it has been one month exactly since I have last written on the Blog. There has also been a lot that has happened- keeping me busy, out with my life and off the blog, a nice little summer break if you will. But today I has a desire to come write on my blog and say a few things that are important to me. 1 I know the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. This month I am especially grateful for the blessings of this gospel because ...

the surviving Mormon couple: Amazing Things Will Happen

http://www.survivingmormoncouple.blogspot.com/2015/03/amazing-things-will-happen.html

Friday, March 27, 2015. Amazing Things Will Happen. When we first moved to Las Vegas, Ivan bought me stationary set, one of my favorite gifts! The cards had beautifully flowered and decorative quotes and the front of the box said "Amazing Things Will Happen." Actually, the day he brought it home was in our first vlog: Vlog #1. I thought it was beautiful and I waited about a week to open it and use one of the cards! So, I displayed the box in the guest room and forgot about it for months. But a lot of wor...

the surviving Mormon couple: Performing in Palm Springs

http://www.survivingmormoncouple.blogspot.com/2015/01/performing-in-palm-springs.html

Friday, January 30, 2015. Performing in Palm Springs. This month, Ivan and I were asked to sing for a corporate gala hosted in La Quinta, Palm Springs, CA. We sang 3 different inspirational songs during their awards ceremony. It turned out beautifully! Such a fun and new concept- singing a few songs and then not being needed anymore, makes you really fall in love with this gig life! We even got to stay longer at the resort, swim, go shopping and we went on a few hikes near the Indian reservation!

the surviving Mormon couple: How far back do I go?

http://www.survivingmormoncouple.blogspot.com/2015/03/how-far-back-do-i-go.html

Sunday, March 1, 2015. How far back do I go? I have missed a lot. I've been busy, preoccupied and well, took a break. This year has been CRAZY! It began with both of us, together on January 1, 2014 for 12 hours. We took the N train to Astoria, Queens and I dropped Ivan off at an airport shuttle, where he began his tour with Man of La Mancha. I got to visit him 4 times on the tour: Austin, Phoenix, Palm Springs and Riverside, CA. We both have jobs in retail and I took a job teaching teens Musical Theatre-...

Brian and Jessica: June 2015

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 15, 2015. I know pictures of the Guggenheim Museum are not new to the blog. Everytime we walk past it, I can't help but take a picture, because it is just so cool looking. Well this time we weren't just walking by. We were there specifically to go inside.at last. Just through the revolving glass door way, sits this metal plaque embedded in the floor. We couldn't stop for long, because the nearby guard directed the line forward to the ticket counters. We love suggested admission! We paid $2&#...

Brian and Jessica: September 2014

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 25, 2014. We finally spotted the sign hanging on a chainlink fence covered with fake green grass. Someone had hung up random-shaped paper cutouts around the sign on the fence. That didn't inspire confidence as to the quality of the fair inside. There was also music blaring loudly from within the fence, and shiny silver and gold balloons anchored at the fence's entrance. So our experience with Renegade Craft Fair was not that positive. I don't know if it was the timing of our visit...

Brian and Jessica: January 2015

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. This last weekend we started hearing about a giant blizzard that was supposed to hit us Monday and Tuesday. Dubbed Blizzard Juno, it was supposed to be a historic storm and drop an estimated 4 inches of snow per hour. Brian just kept saying that he wanted a nice "gentle blizzard" - enough snow to justify some time off, but not so bad that it actually caused damage or emergencies. He ended up getting his wish. I hadn't seen that since we'd left Idaho. Brian walked in the door ...

Brian and Jessica: April 2014

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 29, 2014. After visiting the FDR Memorial, we continued our walk around the basin towards the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. We could see it from across the water as we made our way forward. We stopped every so often to snap a picture when we found a particularly gorgeous view.we took a lot of pictures. The sun started going down and we got to see the building light up. Getting closer, but still too far away for our poor feet. Haha! At this point, the gathering clouds began to sprinkle rain on...

Brian and Jessica: July 2015

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Here's a catch up post on some random things. Along with a very nice letter from Elder Andersen, the envelope contained a copy of the talk with Brian's name corrected in the text and under the photo slides. It was another unexpected and pleasant event, and we were happy to receive a copy of the talk, because we couldn't find one anywhere online. He caught me snapping a picture of him! The movie ended up being really great and we had a lot of fun. Brian got Friday, July 3rd off f...

Brian and Jessica: February 2015

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 16, 2015. This last Christmas, I tried my hand at amigurumi. It actually was a lot easier than I thought it would be, and I had fun making these little owls for my nieces. I think they turned out really cute. For those of you who don't know what amigurumi is, here is a definition from Wikipedia. For being such a small little place, it was quite an impressive display. Once through the door, I was greeted by a menagerie of colorful creatures. The were 4,000 amigurumi toys, handmade...Most ...

Brian and Jessica: July 2014

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Origami Show at Cooper Union. Brian had Thursday and Friday off for the 4th of July, and Thursday just happened to be the last day of the show, so we headed down to the Cooper Union Building, just east of NYU, in lower Manhattan. The neighborhood has an artsy feel to it as illustrated by its tiled traffic signal posts. I fell in love with these bears (also made from metal). These pictures are extremely enlarged (each bear would have fit in the palm of your hand), and their sm...

Brian and Jessica: April 2015

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 12, 2015. I took my time walking back to Brian. I love the rows of maple trees that run around the park. Their bark is so beautiful, and they provide such a soft contrast against the steel and glass of the buildings just across the street. I also loved the beautiful blue and yellow pansies that were planted throughout the park. Their happy faces were loving the cool, moist weather. We took the elevator up to the restaurant, and were greeted with the delicious smell of pasta and tomato sauce...

Brian and Jessica: August 2015

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 31, 2015. After years of hoping and praying for a job that would allow us to move back west, once it happened, the days passed very quickly. We spent the first two weeks of August trying to find someone to take over our lease, packing, trying to find an apartment in Utah, and planning our move. We did the initial inspection, taking pictures and all, before signing the papers and handing over our credit card. Then we climbed in the truck that was to be our home for the next five days. I mos...

Brian and Jessica: October 2014

http://brianandjessicawestover.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 29, 2014. A Day in the Life: Grocery Shopping. I have to cross Queens Boulevard, the main thoroughfare that runs east and west through Queens. Its a busy street divided by the subway tracks and has four lanes on either side. A portion of the tracks consist of a stone overpass like structure. NYC, especially Queens, is so eclectic (from it's people to its storefronts) that you never know what kind of stores you'll find squished together. This is a typical looking block in our neighb...

Surviving Motherhood One Day At A Time

Friday, April 16, 2010. Last night, Miss V. discovered an ancient digital camera that was given to T. years ago. It works, when it has batteries, but he hasn't used it in probably 2 years. V. pulled it out of hiding and started to "snap" our pictures. Oh look. You a princess! And so on and so on. She then took the camera to the bathroom while she did her business. Mike, T. and I were in the other room, when we heard: "Tada! I did it. I take picture of my poop! Monday, March 22, 2010. I'm going to try to ...
