Sunday, January 8, 2012. 22 December 2011 – 27 December 2011. Wake up to Liam’s bright and shining face on our 1. We have been married for 3 years. And it’s been a busy three years. But, I’m hoping the 4. Year of our marriage is MUCH better than the past one. While we have grown together, it has been a REALLY tough year and we are due a break. Load the car. We are stopping by the embassy and then we are heading out of town. Ouagadougou has been fun, but I’m ready to see some friends! The room was actuall...

Trip 3: Why yes I will taste your wine. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Awake to wonderfully cool, fall air. Decide the bathroom is a little too chilly for showers and close the window. Shower, get dressed, and head downstairs for breakfast. Today is going to be a GREAT day. Gather our bags and head back out on the road. We are heading to the Alsace region of France today for some vino drinking. WOO! The boys decide they aren’t that hungry and will wait till later. See A ridiculously cute town in Alsace.

Trip 3: A conferencing we go. Monday, October 31, 2011. 26 October 2011 - 27 October 2011. Since we did trip #1 during the Army Africa Command (or whatever the "official" title is b/c I always get it wrong) conference, Liam looked into going to the Joint Venture Africom conference. Well, turns out the more he started talking to people, the more they encouraged him to go. Then, we found out we were moving to Italy. So, it became a why not? Oh Wait. Did I mention Africom is in Germany? Ran around the house...

Trip 2: Work Day for Liam. Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Trip 2: Stone Town. Spent the day walking around Stone Town with my tropical full body sweat. Because, someone (AKA me), is slightly special needs and decided that wearing a lightweight wool sweater would be a good idea. Yep, not the brightest crayon in the box. I heart this sign. LONG time. Sample of door carvings. Pretty amazing. We went to Beit al-Ajaib (House of Wonders). It is actually a museum of the area with a fantastic 3rd floor balco...

Off to Burkina Faso? Huh? That's a country?
http://francisandliam.blogspot.com/2011/12/off-to-burkina-faso-huh-thats-country.html
Off to Burkina Faso? Monday, December 26, 2011. 16 December 2011 - 21 December 2011. I even beat the sun this AM. That doesn't happen very often. Fishing on the Niger River. Head back to the hotel and crawl back into bed. Liam was half awake and wondering where I had gone. He’s so cute in the morning! Say that 10 times real fast. Besides, the meat on a stick in Africa can be quiet delicious going down. Just don’t blame me if it comes back up! Woo hoo. What a great way to spend a birthday eve! So, much fo...

Dar es Salaam to Arusha, Tanzania. Saturday, August 27, 2011. August 15, 2011. Well folks. Adventure #1 has officially begun. We are driving (yes that’s correct – driving) to Uganda and Rwanda from Tanzania. While the average person would probably not consider driving through Tanzania, across Kenya into Uganda, onto Rwanda and back into Tanzania, we signed on quickly. I mean really why not. The whole point of this year is for him to explore as much of Africa as possible. Along the way, we saw a ton of re...

A New Game.Let's Call it HOARDING. Friday, December 10, 2010. Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Yes Tanzania. A rather large piece of Earth adjacent to the Indian Ocean, Kenya, Uganda, Congo, Mozambique, and a few other countries. I still can't believe it. We will be wandering around Tanzania. For a year. At least. And just because it will probably be the only one I can climb - I might tackle Kilimanjaro. It's not a technical climb and a little supplemental. O2 should make my lungs love 19,000 feet.
