After a couple of impatient weeks waiting for them to arrive I finally got to collect my new walking boots today. Theyre Meindl leather-lined Borneos. Im a very lucky girl as these beauties were a birthday pressie. Early so that I have time to break them in before the big adventure (temporary loss of sanity! That happens next month. The door or dictatorship in Oman was cracked open and democracy was allowed to briefly raise its head in the form of protest and free speech. The ability to criticise anyone within the bounds of slander or libel is a fundamental right of democracy. Alas, the door has been firmly shut again . I've taken 3 days of vacation this week and I've got 11 consecutive days off! How is that possible? I hear you ask. "The UK has only 8 public holidays a year and most of those are around Chrstmas and the New Year! I hear you exclaim. You couldn't write this stuff! I feel like I'm back in Oman!
