The Floyd Files: March 2007
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 29, 2007. Both Isabelle and Aidan are fairly good with their words, making only a few errors in pronunciation. For some reason, Aidan sometimes says "sh" rather than "s" (which makes reading Hairy Maclarey Sit. The other day in the car Isabelle was playing her version of "I spy", which uses the sound a letter makes rather than the name of the letter (phonics anyone? So "sh" is for shoe, "k" for car, etc. Anyway, she said:. I spy something beginning with "w" ". No, it's below us! What fina...

The Floyd Files: January 2007
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Orla is three weeks old today and was 2.95 kilos at her last weigh-in on Monday. It feels as though she is emerging from prematurity into newborn-ness. We no longer have to time her feeds during the day (nor at night, providing that there is no more than 4 hours between feeds of course Orla has been waking through the night at 3 hours on the dot! She has grown out of one of her little quintuple zero outfits. When she is awake, she is very interested in her surroundings. Emily...

The Floyd Files: June 2007
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 28, 2007. Aidan likes smash bang crash. He likes to perform smash bang crash, hear and talk about smash bang crash, and think about smash bang crash. Aidan likes to throw things and watch as items fly through space, across floors, onto high places. Balls are good, but random household items are even better, as they tend to attract more adult attention. He likes to take things to pieces, break things apart, and scatter them. Practically - all this can make Aidan a real handful! So, despite ...

The Floyd Files: September 2006
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 30, 2006. Tarrms the tank engine. The children are currently watching a special, movie-length Thomas the Tank Engine. I helped Isabelle select this one at the video shop, as I noticed it has "Lady" in it - a character she owns and is particularly fond of. It is Americanised, which is funny! Posted by Mary at 3:29 PM. Links to this post. Today Isabelle is 4 years and 36 days old. Aidan is 2 years and 18 days old, which means that by his age, Isabelle had just become a big sister...

The Floyd Files: October 2006
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 31, 2006. The children were playing restaurants today. You would think we ate out regularly! It went something like this. Aidan: (Sitting at the table). I: What is your name? A: Ummmmm Mama [cute! Getting into the role play thing I guess]. I: [Not having any of this]. Writes on her pad). Using my and Brendon’s surnames in a hyphenated fashion]. I: Would you like some food? A: Apple and sandwich. I: (Writing) Apple and sandwich. Obviously been watching me at the computer for too long!

The Floyd Files: November 2006
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 30, 2006. The sound of silence. Both children are asleep right now as I type this. I am taking the opportunity to clear my emails and do a few Playcentre-related jobs on the computer. Pity about the pile of dishes. Great plan, only problem is that we are on day 3 and she hasn't earned a single sticker yet! Posted by Mary at 2:23 PM. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Here's what I have to do:. I also need to tackle the ongoing saga of Isabelle's room today. Like me, sh...

The Floyd Files: December 2006
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 30, 2006. Aidan has chicken pox! Despite the pox, we returned to Oriental Bay this morning. There was hardly any wind and hardly any people. Wellington can get like this over the holiday period - almost no-one in the shops or on the roads. The fountain was on and there was the usual assortment of interesting vehicles to watch (you can just see the Interislander disappearing behind the hill in the photo). It was a lovely trip out for all. As if to say "Where have you been! So, we hired ...

The Floyd Files: February 2007
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 26, 2007. I drove our new car for the first time today. It drives nicely - a step up from our old car. It has these whiz-bang features that the other car doesn't have, like self-canceling indicators and seat adjusters that don't fall off in your hand. The tow bar scrapes alarmingly on the ground as you come in and out of the Playcentre carpark. The air conditioning is a luxury! However, Orla had a difficult afternoon. Something was worrying her, as she started screaming on the way ba...

The Floyd Files: April 2007
http://thefloydfiles.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 29, 2007. They know when you are about to sit down to dinner. Or when you think about making a hot drink. And even if they seem deeply asleep. They know when you lie them down in their cots. They save their explosions for when you are late. For an important engagement. Or when they are dressed in their best outfits. They keep their milk spills for suits,. Black velvet, "dry clean only". It is as if they know. That they can light up your world. Posted by Mary at 10:58 AM. Links to this post.
