Susan McCoy I Author of Heart Root: You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks
http://susanmccoy.blogspot.com/2015/03/you-cant-teach-old-dog-new-tricks.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks. Losing a library item aggravates me. Not only for the simple fact that the item must be paid for, but because I know “it”, the illusive cause of frustration, has to be, must be, somewhere. Inanimate objects do not metamorphose into animated rebellious minions. I know this even though that subject, minions – loyal servants to a powerful being, who are recruited in a plot to take over the world, is the theme of the lost DVD. Yes, of course I had.
Susan McCoy I Author of Heart Root: January 2014

Friday, January 17, 2014. Recently I listened to a heated discussion. One person retorted: That does not make sense! I had to smile, not with disrespect for the other point of view but instead for the calamity of different experiences that allow people to emphatically believe that they are right. I weary of those who pontificate without offering open thought and a listening ear to what may be another set of facts. After listening to this persons diatribe, I calmly asked: Did you choose your parents?
Susan McCoy I Author of Heart Root: Zebra Stripes on a Winter Morning

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Zebra Stripes on a Winter Morning. The birds that feed from my railing are the only color to contrast against this bleak, brittle cold day. The 5 inch Black-capped Chickadees are first, followed by Blue Jays, Cardinals, Finches, Sparrows and Doves. One of my favorites is the Red-bellied Woodpecker. It is the female that I most often spot. From beak to the back of his neck, the male is crowned in scarlet, orange feathers. I do not often view the male. 8220;Go get your own seed!
Susan McCoy I Author of Heart Root: December 2014

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. After a rain, through the kaleidoscope of greens lit by solar beams, a flash of red and gray caused me to pick up the binoculars. They are shy birds but seated in the screened in porch, I was allowed to be an observer. Slowly, I tracked the sound, and focused the lens. Ah, there he was. Wood chip by wood chip, a gray bill sporting a red mustache chiseled out an impressive, oval opening in a decayed tree trunk. That action produced a powerful thunk. 8220;Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Susan McCoy I Author of Heart Root: Slip Slidin' Away (Simon and Garfunkel)

Saturday, February 1, 2014. Slip Slidin' Away (Simon and Garfunkel). I’ve spent two hours cleaning off the trampoline. A ridiculous amount of time to exhaust on such a project but I deemed doing the work necessary when I looked out the window this morning and observed a sagging mat. After tromping through a foot and a half of snow, I discovered that under the accumulated white stuff on the jumping mat there was a layer of frozen ice. Ever try to stand on an icy trampoline and broom it off? I remembered t...

Melanie Maxwell I Photo Blog: November 2010
http://melaniemaxwellphoto.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Travel: D.C. for the Holidays. Somehow I racked up over a hundred hours of vacation at work. With the year winding down, I figured it was time to commit to a trip. So I booked a ticket and flew out to spend the Thanksgiving weekend visiting my friend Emily in Washington D.C. Along with Emily's parents and boyfriend Adam, we checked out a few of the must-sees in the area starting with George Washington's digs, Mt. Vernon. Some of the animals (yes a camel! Right in the middle.

A community college mathematics instructor who is learning about and using technology to enhance her teaching and her learning. September 10, 2009 by smccourt. My students are using Jing in the Discussion Boards. It’s transormed my teaching, particularly te first week. There’s such excitement! Find out about Jing at http:/ www.jingproject.com. Friday, May 15, 2015. During a luncheon date, I shared that I sew a couple times a week. Often every evening, on wintry nights when the sun has been shrouded with a dark, sable wrap by six o’clock. What are you sewing? My friend’s surprised tone slid up at the question mark. I shrugged, “Lots of things. I’m not great,” I took a sip of wine. I like straight lines and uncomplicated patterns. Most often I make quilted throws, curtains, pajamas for my grandkids.”. On the way home, her initial question about ...
