Three years ago, we bought our house in Llandudno. On the Monday afternoon, we viewed the house. Not only was it perfect, it was in the road we had chosen as the one where we would like to live. The Joys And Perils Of Beta-Reading. Posted on 5th November, 2016. This week I did some beta-reading for my friend Karen Coles, who, as KE Coles, wrote the highly successful young adult Mesmeris trilogy, the dark and compelling story of a sinister religious cult. When Karen told me she was going to write an historical next, I immediately offered to read it for her if she thought it might help and I was delighted when she asked me to look at the opening chapters. One happy writer and one happy beta-reader.
