ARCHIVE

This page archives projects I undertook in the years following the completion of my MFA. In many cases there are threads that are continued from my undergraduate work and are still followed in current projects. There is even an uncomfortable foreshadowing of my post-Sandy photography in my work on natural disasters (Falling at His Feet) and the Atlantis project. In 2003 I made a series entitled Homeland Insecurity. FALLING AT HIS FEET 2004-2005. THE WHOLE GREAT WORLD 2000-2002. The most marvelous is not.

Photographs of surfing in New York City, maintained these concerns, depicting the contradictions of the idyll of surfing amidst the urban environment. What are the Wild Waves Saying: Storm Stories from the Rockaways. Lots of press for Right Coast. Limited edition monograph pre-order. In their photo blog, Behold. Jordan Teicher wrote, In a city that often seems to be marching toward the future, Ray found that time seemed suspended along the water. While her photos surely offer a view of modern New York, they also capture something unchanging about the city. The New York Times presented selections. From A Further Shore. As their weekly Metropolitan album, accompanied by a beautiful article by reporter John Leland.

Link to Right Coast book. The project title,. In addition to landscapes that reveal the rigor and drama of winter surfing, I include portraits and still lives that reveal the intimacy and intensity of the life carved out on New York City’s stretch of Atlantic Ocean. The familiar icons of surfing–heroic men posed against their surfboards, barrel-shaped waves, and bikini-clad women–play against the gray skies, snow covered beaches, and grafittied environs.

Wednesday, October 16, 2013. You hit some milestones today! I've never heard you make those consonant sounds before. You also took your first unassisted step! You were holding onto the couch, you let go and took one step and then grabbed me. Monday, October 7, 2013. You stood up and balanced without holding onto anything today. I was the first time you've stood up without holding onto anything. You're getting so big! Friday, July 26, 2013. Sunday, July 21, 2013. Sat Up By Yourself. Monday, July 15, 2013.

True Well Being :: Home

Welcome to a life of freedom. True well being is available to us all here and now. It is the innate core of our being, which is silent, present and real. When this space is revealed and recognised, this life can be fully lived with ease, vitality and balance, enabling us to live our full potential. In our chaotic world of change and challenge. When we are able to be with our present experience with an open heart and mind, there is an opening to our full potential as human beings. 2015 True Well Being.
