Diary of a Chicken Watcher: May 2008
http://chickens9.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. May 3, 2008. Proud of His Hens. Rocky the Rooster crows when he hears one of the hens doing her "I just laid an egg" cackle. He escorts a hen to the chicken house when she wants to lay an egg. Then he paces around outside for as long as it takes until he hears her happy cackling from inside the house. Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Feb 26, 2009. Ducks Adopt Baby Chick. I having coffee on my screen porch and watching the ducks and chickens do their thing in the yard. Each morning when I open the hatch door to let the chickens out to play in the yard for the day, the ducks line up close by the watch for the little tiny chick to peep his way down the hatch door. Diary of a Chicken Watcher: Chickens on the Horzion
http://chickens9.blogspot.com/2012/02/chickens-on-horzion.html
Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Feb 13, 2012. Chickens on the Horzion. For the first time since 2008, for the first time, I can see the horizon. Now that was a long hard dark climb but it was all worth it to get to where I am today. Now I see that the only way to get to where I am today was to climb the ragged and dangerous mountain. Diary of a Chicken Watcher: February 2010
http://chickens9.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Feb 25, 2010. Darth, a rooster, and Quail, a hen, were once a part of a large bantam chicken family living in a beautiful apex-roof chicken house complete with five perfect nesting boxes, two functioning glass windows facing south and east. Rocky was head rooster; all of them shared 64 sq ft and with 5 roost levels. They were completely happy and so were we. Larry put FuzzyTop on soft straw in the small chicken coop they now lived in. We...

Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Aug 27, 2009. Chicken Ladies and Their Roosters. You might think a rooster selects his hens and you would be right half the time. But there are some hens that choose their rooster. We have nine hens and three roosters. I know. I know. Everyone says that's too many roosters and they will fight and generally cause trouble. Not so. Thank you for your comment. Click on Post Title. Above to leave comments. Aug 23, 2009. Above to leave comments.

Diary of a Chicken Watcher: June 2008
http://chickens9.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Jun 8, 2008. Rocky, the golden rooster and head of the flock, raised DarthVader and even taught him how to crow. I thought roosters just crowed professionally right from the first crowing but they do not. We listened to DarthVader learn how to crow - his first crow was no better than mine. If I joined in on all his lessons from Rocky each morning, I'd be able to crow with the best of them. Thank you for your comment. Click on Post Title.

Diary of a Chicken Watcher: Wishing for a Chicken Coop After All These Years
http://chickens9.blogspot.com/2012/12/wishing-for-chicken-coop-after-all.html
Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Dec 25, 2012. Wishing for a Chicken Coop After All These Years. I am still dreaming, hoping, wishing and praying for a chicken coop. So I can have chickens again. The love one feels chickens once you have raised them can't be replaced by anything else. I had to give up my darlings back in 2008 due to having to move and I have yet to pass one full day without my heart hurting just a twinge at missing them. Above to leave comments.

Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. Nov 30, 2009. Downsizing My Lovelies: Sad Heart. I have to find a good home. For my two roosters (father and son and get along) and all but two hens. I know and love them all but simply do not have a proper chicken house for them. We built a beautiful. Daily observations of our chickens, ducks, and other livestock. May 31, 2009. December 23, 2008 Ducks Love Winter (Y360-1). We were surprised at how much our five Cayuga ducks enjoy freezing weather. For several nights when it got down to 4 degrees much of the pond froze over. However there was a small two-foot square area where the waterfall flows into the pond that did not freeze and all five ducks tried to squeeze into that little water hole. Thank you for your comment.
