Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Starbucks and My new Job. Who would have thought that I would have to come all the way to China just to get excited about a place I never visited in the US? The highlight this New Year is the opening of a large Starbucks (yes, Starbucks) in the new Weifang Shopping Mall (4 stories)! The best part of my day is going to Starbucks? I am okay, the Chinese like KFC better than McDonald’s. While at the intimate new bar, The BackYard, I meet this very fluent speaking Chinese, Stephen.

First, I met this man, Alexander from UK , at the “tents in the WalMart parking lot” where Richard (an English teacher @ Weifang University from UK) asked me to meet him and his students. Saturday, December 24, 2011. A little before Christmas. No the Chinese do not really celebrate Christmas but they do indulge in the material decorations! All the malls are decked out. Some are pretty tacky. Just imagine going into Pizza Hut in China and all the Chinese waitresses have Santa hats on. Sunday, March 18, 2012. Vacation - Entry Three. Took the staff bus up to the mountain. 1000rmb for the 2 ski tickets, 300rmb to rent ski clothes and skis/boots, 1000rmb deposit. I had Alex buy some fabulous ski gloves in the lobby boutique back in the Shangri-la Hotel, so we only needed to get him ski pants.
